I just got a $75 offer on XmasCard.mobi via Sedo. That's much lower than I'm looking for. I'm thinking of either countering substantially higher to let the potential buyer know I'm interested in a more serious offer, or sending it to auction. I'm leaning toward auction, but I'm wondering whether maybe at this point it's best just to hold for now.

One more bit of info to consider: XmasCards.com just went for $19,000 in January.

Your thoughts? Is this a good enough domain to get some decent bidding action now, or should I hold?

Won't your net proceeds be close to $1.00 after sedo's commission? The domain is ok. It could be applicable to mobiles. I'd hold until at least the end of summer or mid fall when people turn their attention to the holidays.

Good luck.

Leave it until later in the year when I am sure you will get a much better price. Or counter in low $xxxx now and see what happens. You are right in that it has more perceived value than $xx. I would not put it up for auction now.

Thanks for the input. Actually, Sedo no longer charges the $50 minimum on .mobis, so I'd only lose the 10% commission. But you're right in that there is potential for it as a holiday cellphone domain.

That's pretty much how I was thinking, if I wasn't going to send it to auction.

Thanks both for your advice -- very helpful in clarifying my thoughts for me! ;)

If the buyer is an end user then they want the domain now to be ready for the holidays.

Consider providing a counter offer more in line with your expectations and don't budge on your price.

That's what I ended up doing: countered with low-ish $xxxx, and they've already canceled the offer thread. Fine by me...I don't need to sell it right now, so I might as well hold on to it until something better comes along... :santa:

Sounds like a domainer who was bottom fishing, hoping to snag a gem.
