Good lord that would have killed me I think. I'd have been out balling like a straight gangster with that kind of money and died in a gutter somewhere.

Phew! Close call...

I thought the'd never end.... Show attachment 103070

I feel the pain big time! For roughly 8 years with 2007 being the midpoint my monthly statements were similar but not quite as good as yours, more like 7 to 9k month on average month after month year after year.

So good all i needed to do was hand reg most any 2, 3 or 4 word keyword name in any financial category to start making money on it every day like magic. It was like taking candy from a baby.

Because of that revenue I never even tried to sell domains for a decade. Now PPC is down 97%, that's not a typo, it's really only 3% of that level. I think I had a similar number to you on ppc at the time, somewhere from 1,000 to 2,000 if I remember correctly. It's so bad now sometimes I don't bother to try and monetize.

wow!
what!
1k per day from parking lol!

not sure how many days you kept on doing this.. but at 300k per year.. it doesn't take long to become millionaire lol

that idea is what gurus try to sell you in paid online courses

Yeah only :)
I remember $20k for a month just from parking. Crazy If You think about it... Thank God I re-invested most of it.

Part of the discussion I’ve had over the past few weeks in working on closing the mid to high five figure sale of a domain I have is that this domain has brought in far more than the purchase price in PPC parking revenues over the years, such that I am in no hurry to sell it as it’s already made its bones.

I’ve conceded to the buyer that it’s no longer bringing anywhere near those glory days revenues but somehow this discussion with him has satisfied his curiosity as to why I haven’t bothered previously to sell such a top name.

all handregs
prices similar to todays

yeah Frank

using the overture tool, in those days, one could hand-reg their way to prosperity

I still have a few names regged back then that had ovt w/ext. which continue to pay their renewal fee

@frank-germany those were the days indeed! Parked was great. There was another parking provider, I think the name was Revenue Direct or something like that. They paid well too.

;)

They all paid very well for almost a 10 year span, it was not just parked.com who preceded voodoo.com but many others too including Traffic Z, Adsense and the old Yahoo Publisher Network.

back when yahoo was king of search engines, many other ppc's were filling the coffers.

not only parked, but sedo was holding it's own too
then there was goldkey.com (now smartname), and fabulous.com which now feeds from parking crew had nice templates of it's own and paid very well for poker/casino gambling names.

domainsponsor.com aka information.com, paid nice epc's for very long time and there were others like namedrive who also had colorful templates were acquired by PC.

from just sedo and ds alone, we pocketed six figs in ppc

some others included parkingpanel, parkingplace, domainhop, whypark, etc

I was dippin' my names in every one of these pools at one time or another.

:)

imo...

Back in the Spring I put a few hundred domains on Sedo parking. I had a couple days of $20 traffic and they banned me from parking because they thought I must be scamming them. :-P

Times have changed ...

From the picture it shows he had 1567 domains parked
Wow, that is remarkable! How many domains did you have parked then, to result in that amount of revenue?

Well this explains all those mega sales around that time. Example:
Domain Price Date Venue
sex.com 14,000,000 USD 2005-01-01 Private
sex.com 13,000,000 USD 2010-11-24 Sedo

I can only imagine the amount of PPCs this domain alone had generated throughout those ~6 years. It justifies the 1 million dollars it sold for less. I bet they profited waaay more to cover this 'loss'.

Lesson is never look into 2007-ish sales as comparables. I learn something new everyday in this industry (although this might be crystal clear for veteran domainers).

But they did :(
I looked a few weeks ago my revenue from back then, made me cry a little...

Yes and parking is not dead but back in the old days it was fun

Not dead, but for me it's couple hundred a month now (sometimes three) versus couple hundred a day in the old days.

11 > 12 years ago, I too thought it would never end

but, I won't say parking is dead
why?
because new players keep investing in this niche`
somebody is either buying existing service or creating new platform from scratch

still, even the fractional amounts being paid today, may be enough to pay renewal fee's and potentially support the portfolio.

imo…

That's exactly what I experienced.

When 'history repeats' and modern parking is born will you be ready?

HAHAHA.

Sedo, are a bunch of bandits IMO. You scamming them ? haha.
Thats rich.

I had 639 clicks (CTR 47%) on a few domains over last 12 months there.
I earned.......................................... 19c !!

Last 31 days 53 uniques and not a single click.

that's good observation to note, if you're an "old sales price digger" :)

most newbies just look at the sale price to find a comparable and don't consider the "sign of the times" for that time period.

but back on the parking note

I still have some names that earned good income circa 2006 > 2007 and even though they don't earn same amounts today, I did notice that a few are earning same or higher EPC , while the EPC on some others have slipped due to decreased ad budgets.

decreasing type-in traffic is much lower too, which accounts for less revenue.

but even with all that, it ain't dead yet

:)

I know, I was just saying what Sedo does to you. In the past that kind of traffic wouldnt get noticed by Sedo.

wow that's excellent, is that from individual sites or from parking sites?

Individual sites is plural. Parking sites is plural. ?

Are you asking a question or saying the same thing.

My figures are for all my sites. Plural. But looking back I had less sites ppc parked to bring in around $200 a day than I have now to bring in $200. - $300. a month.

When it comes to ppc parking - less definitely used to be much more!

with comments like this one, it sure sounds like 2000-2010 has made thousands upon thousands of brand new domainer millionaires... I hope you guys didn't spend it all partying. ;)
