I had no idea...

This is a crime in my mind. Why isn't the US government forcing automakers to produce every car made (and exported) as a PZEV vehicle?!?!? They could easily subsidize a portion of the $400 extra it would take to equip each vehicle and car buyers would barely notice $200-$300 added to the sticker price on a $30,000 car! Why the hell would we even be looking at hydrogen when this tech is here now? :| :yell: Unbe-freakin-lievable!!!!!!

What Tech ? The "P" stands for "Partial" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partial_zero-emissions_vehicle - That solves nothing , And from what I've read - Anyone can slap this label on a new vehicle. There's too much money in Fossil fuels and they Wont bother correcting anything until it's too late IMO.

The U.S. sets around pointing at other countries and keeps making "suggestions" to China, India, etc .... on how to prevent dangerous Emissions - Yet "WE" are and have always been the Worst polluters on this planet. When you compare our population to theirs and then Know we are the largest polluters by far - It's just sad.

I'm about as Patriotic as they come - But the U.S. just plain Sucks when it comes to Pollution and Trying to clean it up , Downright Hypocritical :(

Should I believe the journalist who wrote this? It says in the article lawn-mowers put out more pollution in one hour than these cars do in 2,000 miles of driving and in some smoggy areas, emissions of these cars can be cleaner than the outside air. I know a little about internal combustion engines and it does indeed take some "tech" to reduce emissions down to this low level, does it not?

If the emissions were this low for every car made from now on, it seems to me it would make an impact.

The B&S, McC, all those small motors for Mowers, Chain Saws, WeedEaters, GoCarts, compressors, et al are notorious polluters and have little to no emission controls.

That is a crime!

That is true, but you're talking about tools that are in use maybe 1-2 times a week for 30-60 minutes or so, per household. These kinds of engines generally have 1 or 2 tiny pistons. This is negligible compared to a family with even one 4-8 cylinder commuter car.

Again, the article says 2000 miles of driving in a PZEV would put out the same exhaust as a lawn mower in use for 1 hour. Is that not a great achievement? Even if it only reduced current auto emissions by 1/4 per vehicle, it would be worth implementation on a grand scale IMO.

BTW, only 18 people have Dugg this so far. :(

Bro, think of all the Gardeners (mowers, weedeaters, blowers, edgers...), Construction workers (compressors, generators...), none of these have any emission controls.
:(

Anyways, digging it now. :)
(Well, as soon as the veri email comes)

True... True... I'd like to find some emission stats on these tools versus automobile emissions.
