Lately, I've been getting a hundred or more Russian spam emails every day as shown in this image. Is there any way to block or filter emails that contain foreign characters in general? Using Outlook Express.

You know what I DON'T get about spammers....this crappy spam NEVER works...WHO clicks on this crap anyway? You'd think spammers would just give up at some point and move on....sucks for my mail box.

The problem is there are new spammers born every day.

I use SpamAssassin on my mail account. Emails sent need to meet a certain threshold before they're delivered. If a mail sent reaches level "5", for example, it's sent back. Every time something is flagged as possible spam in the message, it earns a point. It's actually very accurate and I'm down to about a spam message or two a day down from about 150 a day. I haven't missed anything important that I subscribed for, either. If you have a cPanel hosting account or own a server, see if you can enable SpamAssassin... I'd highly recommend it.

Thanks Steve, SpamAssassin would not be a good idea in this case, as I do get many important messages that would appear to be spamish, but are not. I do use it on a personal account though, and it is very effective.

You'd be surprised how effective it is. I was a little sketchy on enabling it myself, but I haven't missed anything important, no matter how much it appears to be spam.

Gene, did any of these remedies work?

For some reason, filtering the foreign characters did not work. I added the senders to my block list and so far so good. We'll see what happens.
