I am thinking of starting a site called thedomainmentor.com where you can ask a question and it will be replied to within 24 hours guaranteed by a host of domain name experts, and you would pay for the privilege. The questions can be anything from general appraisals to invesment/selling advice etc.

Firstly, I just want to know if you think people would use the service, would you use it yourself?

Secondly, I was thinking about charging $20 a month, do you think this is too much, too little, or maybe a one time fee would be more appropriate?

Any feedback would be appreciated and rep will be given for good responses :tu:

its a good concept, but one that is not new

however, think that if u are just going to be dealing with domain questions, don't think u will get many subscribers as most answers can now be found off the web and even if they have unanswered questions, there are thousands of forums. Also unanswered questions are probably rare, and few will want to pay a mthly recurrent fee for that.

Also, domain questions are usually not life-threatening or highly urgent. Unlike PC crashes, servers crashes, domain issues do not require such immediate attention.

Perhaps u might want to expand your scope to everything related to web-design, hosting, etc. Perhaps, u may get more subscribers. But think $20/mth is still too much. If its $5/mth, i might consider, but with all the forums around, i hardly have any questions that i cannot find answers for.

I think you are 3 years too late for that one. Your market knows how to find any good info, or has read it already.

It's like being a webmaster that advertises to webmasters. JMO

You'll be going against some of the big boys in this market.
There are plenty of places where you can get it appraised for much lesser price or for free.
I personally think $20 a month is too much.
What is your qualification in this field? What would be the factors that justifies your request of $20 monthly fee.
Maybe try to develop it into a forum or links to useful tools (no guru stuff) that can help a domainer out.

Good Idea

I think the advice here is very important to consider.

What about creating the content for people that are brand new to the internet?

Offer it as a FREE service and have other features and advice that they can dowload on a fee per download. Like ebooks and such. People will use the internet mainly for free content so your message or call to action will require some serious adjusting until you get the best response.

When you have those people coming in for FREE your traffic is there to use as you wish. . . . . . .

Maybe seek out the experts and offer them the opportunity to write free articles and you will link to them?

I would be interested to know if you come across anyone who has been able to retire because of money they are earning from the internet. Any millionaires you know too. I am going to be developing www.millionaireminds.TV shortly and your concept might blend well.

Keep at it.
