Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

If the owner of heineken.tel was going to buy such a well known trademark they might have wanted to have at least taken five minutes and placed something on it that had to do with the other meanings related to the word. The usage that they have allowed simply shows that they have not taken the time to read any WIPO case law or recent domain/trademark law.

Serious domainers, tel or otherwise, have been avoiding trademark domains for years.

Welcome to NP, your first post on forum and in .tel
Hope you'll post or reply more often on .tel thread.

Just wanted to draw your attention to a good thread over at crackberry.com (a forum for Blackberry users); Pros and cons of .tel names - Matt Lane (of Webnames) articulately lays out his thoughts.

And in case you missed it, check out Webnames latest .tel video, 411 takes a beating.

And how many of you that own dot TEL's bought the ----tel.com versions?

Hi

I bought around 20 .tel's

I must be honest I have not even looked at any of the other extensions to see if they are available.

I would imagine they are probably not though as I got what I would class as some reallly nice .tel's and the chances of the other extensions being available I would say is slim.

But I will now have a look and maybe if lucky enough secure some.

Regards

Gav

Got a couple of my .tels in other forms ie one of my geo's in .net, one in .tv. and an other in .....tel.com .....tel.co.uk.
Feel if I offer advertising on one I can offer it on the other as "added value"

I have 3 *tel.com domains that I got to use directly with my .tel domains. Otherwise all of my .tel related .com domains serve their own purposes.

.com domains that start with "tel" or end with "tel" have definitely become more sparse.

Storage.tel at sedo $3950 just now. (Not mine)

I wouldn't have sent it to auction. not likely to get higher bid.
probably falls through anyway.

Definitely true. There seems to be a lot less chatter about .tel but more .tel directories and sites popping up.

Eventually it's all about less talk and more action :D

I agree completely.
It takes time for new ideas to gain popularity.
I think people who expect instant results - and profit, from this (or any enterprise) are not realistic.
Google ranks a lot of .tel sites quite well already, considering how recently they were released. Those who own .tel sites and don't populate them to some extent - anything for visitors to look at - are not helping themselves, or anyone involved. Build them up, even if you only plan to sell asap. Show potential users/buyers what they are for, and how they can be used.
One or two years passes fast, and then things might be looking very good.

I agree with you guys.

And I must say that I am one of the ones that have just kept talking about the .tel and not doing anything with them.

I have been working on one today and it is almost finished. I sent a few e-mails out to potential customers and had one payment through already.

Im really excited about the .tel and think they will be huge.

Also bought 2 more today so with these and other projects I think I have enough toi the end of the year.

My previous post was removed, presumably because a mod thought I had broken the forum rules on linking to other websites. I didn't, but whatever.

Anyway, I had said that the discussion had fragmented and moved to other forums, though I obviously cannot mention them here. If you don't know what I'm referring to then just PM me.

.tel UDRP

and the first dot tel that have been filled complain by a company is Heineken, they want heineken.tel according to domain name wire news.

This is not the 1st but the 3rd one, after Osram.tel and Novozymes.tel. None of them are settled yet ...

FYI -First fully interactive .tel directory

yorkregion.tel has been created as a model for additional regional directories in my area. Besides being a directory for essential contact information within a specific community, this site continues to promote development efforts to showcase interactive tel domains, encouraging residents to participate through self-entry of content. With the primary focus for a community .tel being rapid access to important, centralized contact info, the secondary purpose of this site is to allow residents to list all kinds of community-related events and notifications like garage sales, free items, club meetings, charity events, news, lost and found, etc. When adding content into various folders, residents date any time-sensitive events, such that out-of-date entries are automatically deleted. The site will soon support a limited number of advertisement units, allowing for monetization of a community directory.

If anyone has the time, I'd appreciate some critical feedback before I introduce this site to my community.

Thanks
Mark

Great guys, some of you are building up .tel directories but I'm too busy or lazy to do so. I'm on vacation and think it's time to go foward like you. I've got almost all marketing, advertising materials, business plan, website ready to launch tahiti dot tel but still didn't have time to fill my directory with contact infos. I've been said I'll start tomorow almost every week but always fail to do (not good at all as a business man LOL) My god wish I have a sparkling to kick my a** and do it rather than posting on NP, regging domains... all day long.

Im quite enjoying building the directories using .tel as they are different and a lot easier.

Now working on a taxi project for the uk.

I have regged

ukcabs.tel
uktaxis.tel

The two names above are perfect for my project and I am going to use them as sister sites. They will be identical, advertisers will get listed in both directories for the price of one.

Been working on ukcabs.tel this afternoon and to make my project work i have had to add all 12 regions of the uk to make this work and over 470 sub folders to make sure that most of the uk is covered.

It should be good when it is all launched however and im very excited about the two directories.

Mind you I am having trouble with adding .tel folders at the minute as they are not linking, anyone else on here experiencing any problems.

Regards
