It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

I'm hoping for a .pro football commercial next year.

Never been a big fan of .co, I would buy the argument more if it was just .nz

properties.nz - ok! good!
properties.co.nz - really?
properties.pro - ok! good!

I agree. Maybe if it was dot NZ. But CO really waters it down.

Total .pros registered increased by 4.1% in October 2012 to 144,477. Registrations are up 91.3% year on year, the highest percentage since September 2009. Average daily WHOIS searches were up 2.7% in October 2012 to 92,900. RU Center is now the the biggest .pro registrar with 22,497 compared to 21,949 for Encirca. Encirca had been the biggest .pro registrar for 3 years.

Has anyone received notice from Encirca concerning invalid registration requirements. If so can someone explain the easiest way to comply with the registration or is this a crack down on people that have registered with business license.

It's crazy to think that people have been allowed to sign up with business license and it was actually promoted on the Encirca website until recently when the registry says that it will no longer be accepted.

Anyway your thoughts are appreciated as I'm trying to get better informed on this issue and to advise a few people that I know that are in this situation.

Well, its a change. Maybe the new person will have the sense to do something otherwise rats will keep jumping the ship and go milk other extensions and then jump!

I'm thinking there may not be a new person in charge. Afilias just throws the extension in with the others and moves on. I just wonder if there is a shift at some point in the thinking on restrictions as I know Jiwani according to the domain incite article was a large proponent for them...

I've never been convinced that maintaining strong restrictions will ever help an extension really grow. .ME has done an excellent job and maintained a very good business standard I think in doing it and they are over 600K registrants strong.

Maybe with the registry being less personal it will just come down to a simple business decision and whatever grows the registry with a clean slate.

Or maybe they are just waiting for people to drop all .pro domains (that sure sounds like a money making formula to them if they don't want to change anything) and then kill the extension...

Can't believe that is the direction they really want to take. They should look at killing restrictions and get ICANN to revise the registration requirements in light of new extensions which won't be required to have any.

Chances are that Dr's - Lawyers - architects and other professionals will most likely gravitate to other extensions any way in time leaving .pro more generic. The extension need to redefine itself and I believe the market will help dictate that direction better if left open.

Just grabbed Restoration Pro! Pretty common phrase with lots of potential end-users : restoration professionals. Any views?

BINGO !!! Dropping restrictions is the only thing that's going to save .Pro at this point unless they go on a massive campaign blitz. Dot PW seems to be paralleling .Pro in their marketing but their lack of restrictions is a major selling point. IMO.

Anyway, the PW landrush has just begun.

Wonder if .pro would warrant a sub forum like .mobi?
