It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Chocolate pro $1280
Minecraft pro $1000

Both sold on Sedo according to DNJournal (not mine).

BTW, where do you transfer your .pro names for renewal? Maybe we'll get something on BlackFriday from Encirca but i doubt it.

Looks like Black Friday skips .pro. I;ve been looking for cheap renewal all day. Renewed my .coms and others with less than .pro reg fee at Encirca. Still hoping though. Anyone has something?

Sales Report

I made a stupid mistake and set the "buy it now" price for one of my better .pro names at a very low amount. Today, someone came along and grabbed it and I am kicking myself somewhat. Let this serve as a friendly reminder to others to be careful with adding a "buy it now" price, you may regret it later...

smart dot pro - $750 @Afternic

I want to set the record straight on Smart dotPRO:

Earstrings, LLC was the winning bidder for Smart dotPRO at a SnapNames auction that ended on Jan. 19, 2011. Earstrings, LLC continues to be the owner of this domain name today (see attached auction & WhoIs data).

I guess I really stepped in it this time. I had at one time been the owner of smart dot pro but it seems that I stupidly let it expire back in 2010. I failed to remove the listing from Afternic at the time and it just remained there until now. I had no idea it was still there until this offer came in. Not sure how to handle this, any advice from someone that's been there is sure welcome...

WordWalker, thanks for setting me straight on this.

I would probably inform afternic that you don't own the domain. It's funny that sedo and the likes check your ownership when you add a domain, but there is no routine for updating peoples domain lists.

sorry..that sucks.

Mostly of domains listed at Sedo are not from the customer who primarily put them there and even more ones are available to register!

This matter is a SCAM with all the letters, but nobody - especially Sedo, who is pretty informed about - does anything to solve it.

My advice - except when you find a very good BIN price there - is you always contact directly to the owner of the domain by looking at registrar whois record. :gl:

You'd think domainers who use sedo would take that route unless of course they like to remain anonymous to the seller.

Another thing to be aware of:

If the registrant does not renew a domain name, the registrar may temporarily renew it while it determines whether the registrant will renew the domain during a limited grace period and/or while it attempts to market the name to other parties. When this happens, the WhoIs data may continue to reflect the registrant as the current owner of record even though the the registrant may have only a limited ability to recover the domain name and/or must pay a premium to restore a domain that had lapsed into the redemption period.

So even if the WhoIs data shows the registrant as the owner of record with an expiration date months into the future, still check your registrant account to confirm that the domain was, in fact, renewed by you, the registrant, and not by the registrar.

I'm sure others in this forum may have a better understanding of how this process works and can do a more accurate job of explaining it than I have.

One last comment:

Having said all that, even if the domain name shows up in your individual registrant account, always be sure to check the public WhoIs data base anyway.

I'm going through a situation right now with Moniker where I paid for (and Moniker processed) the 2012 renewal payment for a single word dictionary domain. My Moniker account showed that Earstrings, LLC was the registrant of record, but when I attempted to renew the domain for 2013, Moniker returned an error that said, "Object Not Found."

While my Moniker account indicated an expiration date of Sept. 2012, the domain had actually been deleted from my Moniker account last November (2011), and a check of the public WhoIs records showed the domain was now owned by another company. How this could have happened boggles my mind!

I'm still in the process of trying to resolve this matter with Moniker, and will give a complete report later as to how it all turns out.

You can never be too careful when it comes to protecting your domain names.

That is wired, my domains at moniker always expire before the expiration date.

Rather than letting a bunch of decent .pro domains drop, I decided to throw them on Ebay. My reward for that has been spending a lot of time answering .pro questions from bidders. People seem to know there is some sort of restriction, but they never looked into, or do not understand, what is required and the ways to fulfill the requirement. There is a lot of confusion about the audit process. I am wondering if anyone with under 100 .pros has had to deal with an audit. Restriction or not, I have several names that I like and will keep.
