It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

rye.pro

i jumped in with 2 minutes to go and started the bidding on rye.pro since know one had bid on it

as soon as i started someone was waiting right away

was rather strange ... i tried going back to the main list and than could not find my bidding window

total newbie at the auction....fail

I felt the same way. Too many auctions ending simultaneously. I had bids on five cheap names and two expensive ones. I ended up with three cheap ones. My problem was that I didn't have any sort of plan at all. I was just bidding all over the place. If I had put them on my Watch List I could have focused on just a few.

Regarding Go.Pro, I would have to guess that the new owner wanted that one. Does anyone know who bought it? Any thoughts?

I'd say at least two people really wanted that one.

I can wait and see what the winning bidder is going to do with it.

But I'd like to know what the other high bidders were planning.

Lots of names went very cheap, very few endusers and lots if resellers. But that's better for the extension right now as we will see more sales soon. And high ones.

Same here, I looked and looked at art.pro and 30 minutes to go, no bids, 2 minutes to go, no bids. 1 minute to go, i place my bid and someone jumped in. Anyway, I didn't win it, part of me is happy, part of me is sad... more happy though. :hehe:

I got hot.pro for $660 and bio.pro for $505. Bio ist a widely used term for organic products in German, so maybe this has more potential than hot.pro.

I really was willing to spend $2,500 for gay.pro, but since the reserve price still was not met, I stopped bidding. It is hard to place a bid when you don't have a clue how far you have to get because s.o. set a hidden reserve.

I even placed $8,000 for x.pro even though I was absolutely sure that the reserve price must have been at $10,000 minimum. I thought about trying $10,000; I still think that it might be worth that money, but I have to feed a family, so the risk was too high.

Fantastic Names :gn: thanks for the heads up on that not all bids did not show reserves after bid...its good to know

It seems the whole thing was set up in a manner to take advantage of bidders excitement...maybe it accomplished that in a couple of names but honestly i thought the process was not on the up and up.

I say show reserves ( or don't have any )

In my opinion any name that was NOT bid on in the last minute or so and you happened to Bid as I did someone was there to push

yes i'm a conspiracy guy :D

People seem to buying the cr_p out of .pro's
I bought:

ResidentialProperty.Pro
BuyProperty.Pro

Bargain at current reg fee imho,
do remember we've also paid $100 renewals for .pros

Both the price reductions and recent news announcements have to be driving this significant uptick in sales. I have to think that with the .pro registry now acquired by Afilias .pro will be listed on almost every if not all major registry sites for sale.

Keep in mind that Afilias currently operates such major .gtld's as .INFO, .ORG, .AERO, .MOBI, .ASIA, .XXX and now .PRO!

I'm sure .XXX was such a windfall for them they would be interested in trying to repeat the success with another ext. They may try to raise prices first though, they are dirt cheap right now!

Heck yeah, we used to think $50 was a bargain!

Co or Pro

Earlier this week I watched a video at DomainSherpa dot com

It features a Mr Hazen who is without a doubt very a sharp person.

It was a little on the long side and very informative, i was getting to around the 75 - 80 minute mark ( by this point waiting for it to be over ) when all of a sudden I was absolutely stunned by his remarks.

In one to 2 sentences he spoke very briefly about .co and then .Pro

In the end it felt more like an infomercial about other extensions...

I haven't seen this video yet, but he if said; "vigorously avoid these two extensions", I agree with every word he said. IMO.

Lawdy that's a long video. Did you get anything out of it other than an infomercial?

The remarks on .pro was simply to explain that some of his friends are experimenting with .pro to achieve ranking for their keywords in alternate extensions. The article did not draw any concrete conclusions against .pro's but did state that some have achieved ranking results while others hadn't.

I don't know why MicroGuy made a comment against .pro prior to actually doing the research (ie work) of reading the article in advance of posting.

Well it's my opinion that you either ignore him  or see if you can find the bug spray. . 8-X

Just put him on your Ignore list. It's not like you're going to miss anything worth reading.

Okay this is maybe crazy on my part...but this is how the interview played out to me.
1) An 18k .info purchase and making 56k per month
2) Not sure if the colombia extension will realy rank well in the us or not
3) some friends that are attorneys are buying .pro though he is not sure how that will work out

To me it kind of sounded like an Afilias pitch...or maybe it was just a coincidence that this interview happened when it did....i have been told that I look into things way to much:lol:

I was wondering when I was going to get wee.pro from GoDaddy and contacted my friend who got pet.pro and toy.pro who explained that GoDaddy informed him that they would be made available in our GoDaddy accounts.

The word is Godaddy is working with Afilias to make .pro's available for registration.
