It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Pro People. I have to take down my "$22 Pro Domain" sale sometime this weekend. It's time to throw everything into a pile and see what I have to work with, then I'm off to do some design work.

So if you would like to take one last look at the $22 names, please do so as soon as possible. Link is in my sig.

Thanks
Charles

I found something possibly interesting while reviewing the list of .pro domains I posted earlier.
The count of registered .pro domains amounts at approx. 96251 today.
But it's interesting that it includes 43492 NNNNN.pro. There are 43547 pure numeric .pro domains.
I have only sampled a few (eg. 99950.PRO) but they all belong to a Cyprus-based entity and were registered around August 2010. I dare not imagine they actually got that many .pro domains...
But I think that should explain the surge in .pro domains that occurred at some point.

In conclusion, I think the numbers are artificially inflated and could very well be 'adjusted' as renewal time kicks in...

http://zip.pro/

is the most likely answer. don't ask me why they registered all the numbers in the world, but surely its on bulk pricing arrangement I would guess.

The extension is still adding 2,500 +/- per month. Total.pro reports a monthly chart and it doesn't reflect these numbers.

But overall, the growth is present, so I think the story remains the same. I'd be more concerned if this chart pointed the opposite direction, but it doesn't.

Spot on. Yet, nearly half of the TLD being owned by a single registrant is scary :)

Chas, thanks for compiling the list. However beware of the namebio data as I think it is corrupted by sedo's faulty?! rss feed. Some of the sales on the list did not happen this year. For example Music.pro which was sold quite a few years back 2006 and documented here http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2006/domainsales09_26_06.htm and corresponds to the sale date on total.pro.

Great to see a few more .pro's selling. Is anyone keeping track of how many of these sales are getting developed?

Those are the zip codes being used by that company that Kerry found. Type in your Zip Code, NNNNN dot com, and you'll see what I mean. There are 43,191 zip codes but 4000 or so had apparently already been registered before these guys came up with their idea.

Oops! Sorry Kerry. I read through the posts too quickly and overlooked that you had already explained the mystery. I guess that we should just be relieved that they are all not nine digit domains (SS numbers) all registered by Barack Obama & Associates.

Excluding the 43,493 zip .pros, total.pros registered to January 11 went up 5.2% in the month to 56,908. RU Center was again the star performer, with .pros registered up 26.8% to 4,093. Encirca also increased its .pros after 6 losing months.

I thought that I posted this yesterday so either it was removed or I neglected to click on Submit.

As Andrew noted, Bible.pro went to auction yesterday afternoon at $2,000. CONGRATULATIONS ANDREW !!!

Did anyone read US Wants to Delay New TLDs posted above? Can someone with more knowledge of the subject tell me whether or not it's significant ... or is it old news?

Thanks
Charles

Its not old news charles. I've been reading more about this on the http://www.thedomains.com as I'm curious if this will effect the rollout.
Also, not sure how much control the govt. has over icann. But, surely it is something that can't be ignored.

Bible.pro sold for $2,000. Picked up Violin.pro on Snapnames to add to Guitar.pro and Piano.pro.

Press release from RegistryPro about the appointment of Karim Jiwani as CEO. He is one of the original Board members of Afilias. I'm a big fan of Afilias and .info, this looks like an excellent hire by Lucas Roh. Interestingly, RegistryPro couldn't issue the press release without a cock up, they forgot to delete the About Key Systems paragraph from the previous press release, nevermind.

Excellent Sale on bible.pro! Hopefully Karim Jiwani gets a little more proactive with the extension and takes a little more public role in getting the word out further. I'd love to see the registry get a little more aggressive with their efforts., but the upward growth trends are in place and I'm banking on the idea that .pro will survive in the rising tide of new extensions. They need to be more assertive.

I don't come across dot Co everyday but one place that I see them routinely is on the Overstock.com commercials. They refer to O.Co as the shortcut to Overstock.com. I doubt that becoming the little brother to dot Com is what dot Co had in mind.

Thoughts ????? ........................... Anybody ????????

never was a big fan of co. but amazon.com has bought several one letters just recently a.co, z.co and some other one letter .co

anyway...I think they are all trying to set themselves up for owning the .com's of the one letter by establishing the one letter brands.

I'm going against the grain and saying .co doesn't last.

Thanks for the kind words on sparkle. My intention was to make a very clean, simple ecommerce site.

You are totally wrong because .co wins upon .pro
With all marketing efforts from new manager of .pro, will never be end user choices. I did talk to all my customers (+100) everytime about .pro and not one said they will reg or promote such for their business, it's same as .travel or .job. So don't get me wrong, these high sell you see on sedo... are domainers buying, might have some end users but very few.

.co is going to be big and my customers about 45% did said they could be interested since .co is shorter than .com but most says that it looks like .co.uk, .co.nz.....

I even have generic .pro that tried to sell low for my clients, they laugh and not interested.

Respect your views for sure, but still going to hold my call.
Guess we'll see in a few years how things shake out and in all reality .pro and .co are separate animals. Of course, if .co does rise further it would actually help all non .com's becuase it helps shake up the mass .com mindset.
