It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

I've registered: Bourbon / Tort / Pollen / Rhinoplasty / Geology in the past two or three days. And I'm definitely leaving some behind, like vaccine.

Bourbon - who the hell would expect to find that floating around loose.

I guess I'll post any nice ones I come across in case someone's in a buying mood.

Thanks WordWalker!

fighting.pro

Hi .pro folks, I wonder if you could cast your knowledgeable eyes over my one and only .pro domain.

I have the domain fighting.pro which is up for renewal next month and wondered what you guys thought of the domain, is it worth keeping?

I origionaly picked it up in order to develop into an MMA blog or something on that line but have just not had the time.

I believe sporting keywords fit the .pro extension well as athletes and the public often refer to people as a pro in their chosen sport ... pro footballers, pro basket ballers etc

What do you .pro experts think?

Thanks in advance,
Moonie

I would renew it. Then lock it in a safe. It has some very "pretty" numbers.

Tort

It's how personal injury lawyers get rich. It's a Civil Wrong as opposed to a Criminal Wrong. You can sue me for the first but not the second.

Definition:
A tort is an act that injures someone in some way, and for which the injured person may sue the wrongdoer for damages. Legally, torts are called civil wrongs, as opposed to criminal ones. (Some acts like battery, however, may be both torts and crimes; the wrongdoer may face both civil and criminal penalties.)

Thanks Big Jelly for the quick responce. By prety numbers do you mean:

49,500 Exact Global Monthly Searches for the keyword fighting?

Thanks,
Moonie

Is this total use of the word pro within a .com domain name or searches for pro in google. It is a great sign that pro is used so frequently on the internet, which I hope bodes well for the .pro extension.

We were talking earlier about ways to market .pro. It seems a little crazy this extension still offers great opportunities for picking up keywords or combinations of good keywords.

Would an exciting form letter that would explain the .pro professional opportunity and send it out as a tell a friend kind of concept to help spread the word. Maybe we mention recent sales, ect. as there are facts that certainly support the growth of the extension. Also, general lowered cost of ownership 14.95 is pretty competitive with other registration fees.

This is how I got into liking the extension. A very successful friend of mine in the domain business told me about .pro and I thought it was an awesome extension. However, at the time they were 100 bucks a piece which kept me out till the price reduced.

go pro!

Sometimes I try make whois:
Hostname: when-you-will-make-strong-whois.pro
Domain: when-you-will-make-strong-whois.pro

Querying whois.registrypro.pro for when-you-will-make-strong-whois.pro...
Number of requests exceeded

I think dotPRO has two tech. problem
1. Wrong DNS Auth trace (In results of any .pro domain is always (a).gtld.pro)
http://freedns.afraid.org/domain/dnstrace.php?domain=idiot.pro&submit=Trace
and
2. Weak whois.

This is discrimination and violation rights of all dotPRO owners!

Wrong DNS Auth trace is only for .PRO domains.
They dont want a fix this bug.

yesterday I received a sedo offer for a .pro domain.

this is the second time I have received a sedo offer for a .pro that I had let expire.

the first time, I re-registered it and accepted the offer. :D

this time, someone else has the domain.

Would you do a favor for me and tell me what your settings are on these Pro domains that have received offers? I've had between 40 and 50 Pros listed on Sedo since I regged them, and while I have sold a Net and a Com I don't recall ever even getting an offer on any Pros. Sometimes I'll put a fixed price on them but usually just leave them on Make Offer. Thanks. Charles.

I have them on make offer, with a minimum bid.

I just checked my account, and the domain was not listed, so I figure sedo checked ownership and removed the listing.

I just followed the link in the email (about the bid), and got a sedo page with this notice:

Important Notice
This bid thread cannot be accessed. The negotiations have been closed because one of the offers was not consistent with Sedo's terms and conditions.

Before announcing something like that RegistryPro should get everything set up on Namejet's website. There is no reference to .pro on Namejet.com and no search option. They should also include the .pros to be auctioned in the body of the press release to generate interest. They would get more for the .pros at auction by removing restrictions first. Alot of people won't bid for a .pro because they are unsure if they are eligible to own it. Others won't bid for .pros because the market you can sell into is small which makes them more illiquid than other extensions. Finally, by oversupplying a thin market with premium keywords, the prices achieved will deteriorate quickly as they did in Vincent Liao's .pro sale on NP. People holding weaker .pros may drop them in response so what RegisryPro gains in auction proceeds, they will lose in drops of weaker keywords. One of the strength's of the .pro aftermarket is they are tightly held so when you have a premium keyword at auction, it fetches a respectable price. The reality is the money in .pro auctions comes from the same 4-5 people so until you grow your prospective pool of $X,XXX buyers, you are not going to generate much from an auction. RegistryPro should focus on getting big registrars to sell .pro and restrictions removed before auctioning the dozen or so strong 3 character .pros.

Think all they've mentioned is 11 3 letter domains unless I read it wrong.

Also seems to be some weeks away from actually happening, so plenty of time to get the NJ display sorted, will the platform make a difference though?

I doubt that's enough time to get restrictions removed, don't even think the registry is even inclined to push for that.
