It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Is there any way around changing nameservers One-At-A-Time on EnCirca? Can I make a wholesale change?
In the left menu of "my account", there is a "bulk update" link.

My sale of Booking.pro completed on Sedo today for 5,000 Euros or approx $7,500. I sent a screen print to Ron Jackson at DNJournal so it should make Wednesday's Global Contenders Top 20. In last week's chart, it would be number 8 or 9. It's still in my name in the .pro WHOIS so I'm presuming Sedo have to transfer it on to the buyer, who I believe was Dutch.

First of all, welcome back!
This thread has been kind of dead without your presence.
Well done on the sale, I'm glad to see it's a EURO sale :)

The buyer contacted me on Sedo, the initial bid was 500 Euros. I started on 8,800 Euros, I said I wanted something similar to the $11,500 Booking.info sold for. I think I said at the time .info was better known but the keyword Booking is more brandable in .pro. The bidder offered 1,000 Euros, I countered at 7,950 Euros, bidder increased their offer to 2,000 Euros, I replied 6,950 Euros, bidder went 3,000 Euros, I offered it at 6,000 Euros, bidder countered 3,500 Euros, I came down to 5,500 Euros, bidder offered 4,000 Euros, I countered at 5,000 Euros, bidder accepted, or something very close to that, I can't remember exactly but there was alot of bidding and countering. My original logic for buying Booking.pro was the keyword Booking had sold for $X,XXX+ in .tv and $XX,XXX+ in .info so it was in demand in alternative extensions. Plus it's a versatile commercial keyword so if I had to hold long term, I'd find a development use for it some day. Booking.pro would be a fantastic domain for a business travel site or a booking software developer so I hope it gets developed. One interesting fact about Booking.pro is that it is a May 07 regged domain, sold for $2,000 within 4 months to me and now again for 5,000 Euros. Not a bad track record for a 2-3 year old domain. Maybe one day it will sell for significantly more again and I will be kicking myself.

IMHO Booking.pro for 5000 euros is almost a present. :imho:

By the way, anybody here could make that .pro result appear with .com, .net, .org, .info, .mobi, .eu and current ccTLD?

Domain Searchย -ย Sedo.com

Has no sense that .mobi appears and .pro doesn't and this could mean the take off for .pro sales!

Thanks, that shows your time & research placed in the keywords chosen while acquiring .pro domain names and is a classic example of getting respectable sale price that you had wanted. Being firm and assertive helps.. Congratulations!

Andrew: Congratulations on the sale of Booking.Pro, and of course welcome back.

Galel: You were enquiring re; renewal deals/ transfer deals encirca are offering 12.99 transfer ins (according to an email they sent yesterday PM) for second level.pro and 14.95 for new registrations.

Pity the renewals for current customers seem to be 19.95

I agree with Terol, it does appear to be a problem that .pro is not counted in as a common extension. However I notice that .biz is also missing.

(from domainpeople site)

"Will I be eligible to register second-level .Pro domains (eg. mydomain.Pro) under the new registration rules? "

"All professionals and professional entities who self-certify that they meet the eligibility requirements are able to register .Pro domains. If you own a business license, you are likely to qualify! You can register if you:

โ€ข Are a person or entity who provides professional services; and
โ€ข You have been admitted to or licensed by a government certification body, or jurisdictional licensing entity recognized by a governmental body; and
โ€ข That body or licensing entity requires that its members be licensed or admitted to provide services;
and
โ€ข You are in good standing.

To determine if your business is eligible to qualify, the general idea is as follows. As long as the organization provides the service associated with its registration identification, and meets all eligibility requirements outlined in the domain registration agreement, the organization is eligible to register a second-level .Pro domain. For example, a customer's business license states that they retail running shoes will be eligible if they use the .Pro domain to sell shoes."

Okay, so how is everyone getting around the stipulations I've highlighted above in red?
Is this just legal fluff, or am I missing something here? :-/

If anyone can answer this, but for some reason prefers not to post it, can you please PM me?

Congrats Andrew on the sale!

What I want to know is how much did Sedo steal from you in comission for selling .PRO?

Btw, when buyer makes a bid of 160 on a .PRO domain, do they know the seller is getting $10 while $150 is the fee aka stolen money to sedo?

If I made a $7,500 pro sale they'd have to carry me to the hospital. :kickass:

I found out the buyer of Booking.pro today, it was Booking.com BV, these guys are owned by the NASDAQ quoted company Priceline, current market value $9bn. Here's an extract from Wikipedia for Booking.com;

"Booking.com is Europeโ€™s leading online hotel reservations agency by room nights sold, attracting over 30 million unique visitors each month via the Internet from both leisure and business markets worldwide. Established in 1996, Booking.com offers rates for any type of property, ranging from small independent hotels through to a five star luxury. The site is available in 24 languages and offers over 73,000 hotels in 71 countries."

Note Booking.com doesn't own Booking.net, Booking.org or Booking.info so if this is just a defensive registration, it's one of their first. If this isn't proof of the branding potential of .pro and appeal to big business, I don't know what is. I offered them Bookings.pro.

It looks like this may have been a defensive reg afterall (I'm hoping not but the other sales suggest other wise) Must say if this is the case I'm slightly dissapointed as it would have been a fantastic chance to showcase the "branding potential" that .pro has.

On a different note. Has anyone heard any more news of the 1,2 and 3 character .pro release/auction? RegistryPro to Release One-, Two- and Three-Character .PRO Names

As I have heard no news, I personally wonder if they are holding back with the hope that restrictions could be lifted next year. With the opportunity to make alot more money from the release.
