It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it.

Smile.Pro

Been on a .pro binge and picked up a few from a member here, one of them is Smile.Pro any thoughts? Thinking this would be suite the cosmetic dentistry industry. Does anyone have thoughts to other potential uses, or in general?

I like it. Popular generic name. When I started regging .PRO in early october I thought about regging Laugh.Pro, and it was recently snatched by someone IIRC. These names are going fast!

I like Smile.pro. excellent site name for a dentist as you say. Also, keywords like "Smile" are exceptionally brandable in general. For example, the UK internet bank Smile.co.uk is owned by the Co-Operative Group, the biggest UK consumer co-operative.

Smile.pro is a stronger domain name semantically than Smile.co.uk because the extension is shorter, geo neutral, and you get two swipes at conveying the meaning of the brand to the end user. Not only will using this service make you smile, we are also professionals at doing that.

Some people will say "but there is no such thing as a professional smile", they don't get the branding angle of .pro. Businesses do and that is why there are 15,000 references to "Pro" in the US trademark registry and 1.7m "pro.com" Googles indexed pages. The only problem is very few businesses have heard of .pro.

I had a similar logic with Diamond.pro. There is the lucrative diamond jewelry angle but Diamond can convey brand qualities; clarity, purity, durability, brilliance, beauty, luxury etc. So you get a keyword that conveys these qualities and an extension that rolls all that up and hits a home run.

Vincent's .pro sale thread is significant because he was one of the biggest .pro registrants in March 2005 and is the only bulk .pro domainer minded to sell at wholesale prices. His collection doesn't compare with MJS who regged pre-March 05 and topped up with super premiums like Travel.pro on the aftermarket but it's as good as you will see for sale on NamePros. I added;

No, I don't think so. How would you develop such a weird name?

Maybe a sole number domain might be useful especially for the asian market, but I don't believe that.

I noticed something interesting. Page.pro and Pages.pro sold for $60 this morning. That's $600 in cumulative reg fees to get $60 back. In contrast, Studio.pro cost $300 in reg fees and returned $3,000.

Vincent regged Page.pro, Pages.pro, and Studio.pro on 4 March 2005, two days after Encirca launched its proxy service on 2 March 2005. There were 120 seconds between the 3 registrations. One produced a 1,000% return and the others 90% losses.

Congratulations to mwzd on Page.pro and Pages.pro. That was the best .pro deal I have seen on NamePros.

Tbh, I'm going for keywords that I can develop plus a domain's final sale price is hardly a barometer of its worth, specially on a resellers forum like NP.

I seconded Andrew's email to Tom Barrett. I can't promise anything for this weekend, but it should serve as some comfort to Tom's clients, that he is basically hands on, 24x7. (No financial strings, just a lot of respect well earned over the course of several years)
