It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Why not we request sedo to conduct an exclusive auction for .pro alone and I think this is the right time for that. Any thoughts....are welcome.
I'm all for auctions, particularly as a means of deriving cash flow during these challenging times. My concerns, however, are about timing and venue. Secondary market prices have fallen to abysmal levels, across the board, in recent weeks. My faith in .PRO's long term prospects nothwithstanding, I have no basis for concluding that .PRO is set to buck any short term downtrends. To this end, until the domaining aftermarket begins to show signs of recovery, I think it rather in the .PRO community's interests to keep its auctions in house and/or otherwise silent. For example, I was happy for Andrew when he mined diamond.pro for $800 US (mere trinket change in Europe), in a recent NamePros auction. I would be less pleased, as might Andrew and other intended future .PRO sellers, to find a written record of said in the DNJournal and the like. Some things are best left unsaid...

I agree with MJS, the aftermarket is flat, I listed 3-4 decent .pros at Domainfest to cover renewals costs and nobody bid at $1,180. 18 months ago I would have bought them myself at the reserve price.

I have only ever reported my higher priced .pro purchases like Studio.pro at $3,000 and Guide.pro at $3,000 to dnjournal because smaller price tag buys don't help the extension and won't make the top 20 non .com sales list anyway.

I am focusing on development at the moment and have just launched my first website LastPost.com, I bought the domain for $1,000 from a guy in Turkey in 2006, then added the .co.uk for £2,000 and the .net for £1,000. I had the idea for the site first and then bought the domains to fit it.

Definitely wrong in my last post. It is graphicarts.pro rather then graphicarts.com (I wish). Just goes to show why .com is king...comes to mind first, even with those of us who believe other tld's have their place too.

I wouldn't mind selling one of my .pros for enough to pay for the other .pros I've bought, but I'm not sure the market would be there in this climate as MJS and Lastpost say. I think development might be the way to go. I've got the following domains: fairies.pro, witchcraft.pro, spells.pro, and graphicarts.pro

I'm thinking about developing the sites and then seeing if I can't rent the sites out by the year to pros in those fields. Of course, wouldn't mind selling them either... If I thought I could get at least 150.00 for them at auction, I'd say yes, let's have one but I just don't know.

There is more of a reseller demand for high value keywords than was there same time last year ;) I have an auction on and will put up another lot on auction soon.

Like I'd recommended to someone earlier, if you dont want to keep a name, $1>>$0.

Cheers!

Nice Site

Thanks Soggy! Love that site by the way ;) I enjoyed reading top selling domain names, and will be using your new .pro drop info with interest.

I only wish I had unlimited funds to buy up .pro names but for now I'm mainly tied to what I can develop.

For instance, I am fortunate enough to be steward of 5 original early civil war era Saturday Evening Posts (1860 - 62) from Philadelphia and have been seeking a good name to use to put the very interesting articles and wood block prints from the paper on, as well as pictures of the papers themselves. Of course, I originally was seeking a .com, but today tried branching out into .pro and came up with historic.pro and it just sounded perfect!

These papers have obits that will surely be of interest to some geneology seekers, as well as great snips about what states are siding with the secessionists and which are aligning with the Union... a nice article speculating about Mr. Lincoln's Cabinet (a month out from his official inauguration). Fascinating stuff and was looking for a good site name to put it on. And, if I'm not mistaken, this stuff is long out of copyright, so I've a green light to put the whole papers on historic.pro.

Thanks Dustie! It's supposed to be there for all those things you need to use every now and again - makes things easier than wondering where things are all the time...

steveteva - it had french .pros today, but german ones yesterday. sometimes it has transfers and you can't always reg these.

but sometimes it has some nice available english ones - it pays just to keep an eye on the lists to see what turns up.

hostway.com

I have 3 .pro domains at hostway.com, they are successfully registered, but not available for managing (pending status)....
This situation lasts more than 4 months....
I called to their support, wrote e-mails - they promised me that they will solve this, but nothing happens. Does anyone have had problems like this?
(I mean is any solution how to solve this? Maybe write complain to Registry Pro and etc.? What do you think?)

Thanks.

BottomLine

OK encirca is ridiculous with their renewal prices but I have no issues with them as a registrar

Anyone transfer-out to domainpeople etc and have no issues with their .pro domains ??

Please only people who transferred out respond !!

I transfered one of my domains from encirca to domainpeople and it was successful, I see it in my domainpeople account. However, I still see the domain in ecirca account as well. :|

Encirca needs to wake up and lower renewal fees.

Try to change nameservers or e-mail for your transferred domain and you will see that it did not work...(information in .Pro whois is not changing)

They *do* transfer, just very slowly. Encirca soon says they're deleted, but actually they're in a "pending transfer" state [according to the registry]

Not the kind of thing to leave until the last few days before expiration.

I added two March 05 regged .pros today, London.pro and Power.pro. The owner had a problem reregistering them so I picked them up for a nominal sum.

Do you own london.pro? Are you going to sell it? Let me know.

I'll be honest with you, I don't usually sell my .pros. I paid $3,000 for Guide.pro, $3,000 for Survey.pro, and $3,000 for Studio.pro and about $70,000 for my whole .pro collection so if somebody offers me $300 for a .premium keyword, I don't get very excited, a £69,700 loss is as good as a $70,000 loss in the grand scheme of things plus selling low devalues my whole .pro collection.

I tried to move some .pros from Encirca to DomainPeople, no transactions yet though.

I wonder if they will ever transfer, only have one week now.

Any idea?
