~ not so much domain news, unless you consider, who owns Playboy.com now ~

Hugh Hefner has unfortunately passed away, God bless his soul,

May he rest in peace, all my prayers and wishes go out to his family and friends, anyone who'd like to say a few words in memory of this business man, playboy, and icon can do so here.

Best wishes,

Alessandro

Having a brother ten years older than myself, with a subscription to Playboy in the Sixties, it was like a perpetual feast of great cartoons, fantastic writing, and a rough education on the nature of the opposite sex. Being raised as a proper Puritanical American, it appeared to me that Hugh Hefner had managed to pass himself off as a Greek god, free from the judgments of Jehovah and His priests. He presented graciously what pornographers thrust at us crudely, making heterosexual imagery seem healthy, nesting a lusty centerfold in a clutch of glossy pages stuffed with luxury goods ads. What could be more appropriate fare for red-blooded American men? If you didn't like it, you were ... well what were you?

My last question is, did he die alone in bed, or was he accompanied by women in lingerie all the way to the Pearly Gates?

Now there goes a real ICON. Or dirty old rich man, which ever way you may view it.

Quite the entrepreneur. Impressive career and really will live on as an icon for sure. RIP HH.

Not sure if anyone knows his start was with Marilyn Monroe shot by Tom Kelley.
I own one of the signed prints of the "Red Velvet" photos taken in 1949 by Tom Kelley, who paid her $50 to pose and which Hugh later in 53' launched the magazine with. This first magazine printed It sold 54,000 copies and off he was in business.

Rip Hugh. The brand wound down perhaps to keep up with the lifestyle at a billion a year what ever that is all up. In the last few years Playboy stopped posting nude girls n their magazines due to once the only posting nudes now finding a new niche or perhaps more its roots. There were once big brother styled houses streaming girls like the mansion in various countries along with other content. There used to be streams for sites which were wound down few years ago. Seems he was making the decisions and running the business till the end. Playboy has had their revenue attacked by pirates for years. Hugh did as well as could be expected with the explosion of the internet and protecting his brand. Playboy still is one of the most recognizable logos and brands on the planet.

How would that be "Domain Industry News"?
He owns only domains to protect his brand and he wasn't an active domainer.
RIP anyway.
