The owner of Knol.com turned down Google's offer

It was on the news here in Holland, TV, newspaper, online, everywhere
Google is offering Hilco Knol, the owner of Knol.com which is his familyname. for "5 zeros ". but he turned it down. He said, will consider offer only from "6 zeros"
He regged this name in 2002 for his shop which sells vacuum cleaners and stuff .
He lives in a small city called Dordrecht, south of Rotterdam

he won't earn that much selling vacuum cleaners :imho: he should have taken the money but then again that keyword is as precious as his name and reputation so 6 zeros is well worth it for both buyer and seller.

i think google will bite.

its his family name, so yes its precious, its also a family company est in 1969.
and its Holland ! tax has to be paid, he mentioned it as the reason too, if he receives the money, 52% goes to the tax

Google asking for 5 zeros is like me asking a LLL.com owner if they would sell for $500. Guess they thought they could get lucky. If I had a name google wanted i wouldnt accept anything under big retirement money.. ie 2M+
