I think I started the first BQB.com auction ever. I'm not sure but it looks like it's up and running.

Thanks for the quick approval Reece, just made some bids there!

Hey Reece,

I notice there has been two auctions started by mistake for QQQD.com... Is there anyway for sellers to report this to you so that you can then remove the duplicate auction (in much the same way as you can use the 'report post' button on forums)...

Just an idea :)

Hi Rich,

Thanks for catching that! :)

Abuse reports are currently located in the members area under the "My Account" tab. I think making it easier to find and easier to access will encourage reporting. I'm definitely going to have to make a detailed faq + help section one of these days :)

For convenience, it can be accessed here: http://www.bqb.com/account,page,abuse_report,section,members_area

I'll look into if there's a "quick fix" for this. If it's something minor (eg. not the price or the name of the domain), you can make it go live and then quickly edit the listing afterwards -- that may be easier.

And thanks for listing that lovely triple mate :)

I just started my first auction there.

My comment: When I want to revise my auction on the last page before I submit the auction. I can't click on the link at the step 1-7 . I have to click on the "back" button to go back and edit the detail in particular page. It is not so easy-to-use too many clicks involve when I just want to edit only minor detail.

Thanks for the great site anyway.

Reece. There is a little space at the bottom of the homepage that isn't being used effectively that you could put the most recent 5 or 10 sales or some recent high sales info to sell the effectiveness of the site. Just an idea.

I downgraded the server recently to a 8 core x 2.66ghz Harpertown setup, upon suggestion that it may actually work faster (2x12MB cache in new setup versus 4x4MB in the old one) because of the difficulty most software currently has in taking advantage of even 8, nevermind 16 cores. Still, it isn't cheap by a longshot (still using RAID 10 with quad SCSI) and there are lots of servers out there which cost less to buy than I'm paying per month to lease this one.

I'd rather just stay on one server permanently than get into load balancing or (gasp!) changing servers if such a time were to come (had I gone with a cheaper option eg. 1 core Celeron). Peak server load so far has been 0.18 -- and that's to be divided by 8, because I have 8 cores in here, so clearly it can handle a whole lot more stress than is currently being placed on it.

I have some experience managing servers. I have been a webmaster and developer a long time before even thinking of being a domainer B-)

Obviously, the server you are using now exceeds your current needs by a HUGE margin. I've run high traffic sites from celeron servers for years without a problem.

That being said, I understand your position and I agree that there are many advantages to have a powerful server. With a site like bqb one of the most important factor of success is the reliability and speed of your site. The other is security. If you have a powerful and secured server (firewall, software up-to-date, etc.) you won't have problems when your site starts to grow, which I think will happen at a very fast pace.

I wish you luck with your site.

Yep, sales history would be really good... it would help Antonio a LOT to! :)

Will have a sales history up in about an hour :)

There's actually a surprisingly large number of sales -- quite a bit more than I thought there were! For the cheaper names like LLLL.nets, LLLL.infos, and 5L.coms, BQB finally seems to be a place where they sell quite easily near full market value.

BQB sales history is up :)

Hey Reece,

Do you think it would be possible to remove 30 day auctions? Those are a bit too long, :imho:

Hi Bill,

I'm going to implement an "automatically reduce auction length to 10 days remaining" feature on June 6 for any longer listings which receive bids while 10 or more days remain.

Just want to allow domainers who don't need quick sales the ability to price their domain at full (or above full) market value and not have to relist their names 3+ times per month until it sells.

Come June 6 any domain with bids and with 10+ days remaining will default to 10 days remaining. For members who'd prefer their auction run the full 90 days, you can put a higher starting bid to discourage bidding. For those who want their domain sold as soon as there's interest, you can put it at no reserve 90 days and it'll sell 10 days after the first bid is placed.

You`re welcome, that is just a great idea.

When I`m in no hurry to sell some names, I just like to expose them...so really I think that leaving different options is fine.

Thanks

I think this would be great, but I think the last 30 or so sales (more the better) would be better. It would make an BQB more interactivly interesting. I am sure lots of people are left guessing what auctions went for

The rightmost link on the bottom of the homepage now shows recent sales data: http://www.bqb.com/custom_page,page,56,topic_id,content_pages .

Will update it 1-2 times per week, so it should give everyone a good idea of what has recently sold on BQB.

Great! plus lots of sales listed, good stuff. Would it be possible to put a link up the top linking to the sales data too, as I think some poeple may miss it. if it can not be integrated in the main menu due to design, maybe in could go next to: SALES DATA | FAQ | ABOUT US | CONTACT US as well as down the bottom where the sales data link is now

I'll make a banner ad for it and put it in the rotation at the very top.

When I find the time, I'm going to make a detailed FAQ/Help section like is found on eBay which will hopefully make everything about BQB easier to use and understand.
