I think I started the first BQB.com auction ever. I'm not sure but it looks like it's up and running.

Great, it looks like you are back online. I was beginning to wonder if the move to the new server killed the project. Migration can get ugly really fast. Glad to see you made the crossing successfully.

I just wanted to apologize for not making a note regarding BQB downtime here. A thread in Domain Discussion was created recently regarding this matter -- everything is okay and BQB should be back up within 2-3 days.

BQB is being migrated to a new server. It's a bit more complicated than moving a normal website and is above my level of comfort and, apparently, the level of comfort of the person I had managing my server. Anyway, I have someone experienced with migrating the software powering BQB now working on getting it restored. Nothing will be lost when functionality is restored. I've been quite busy lately and this has unfortunately caused communication delays which have resulted in the longer than anticipated downtime. No auctions had bids on them at the time BQB was taken down, nor were any premium listings active -- it was decided that this would be a good time to make the move and make sure that as little was affected as possible. My email: reece(at)bqb.com is hosted both through BQB and additionally through DNS Made Easy (as a backup), hence all emails directed to me are being routed through DNS Made Easy to me and I am receiving them. If you'd like to discuss anything related to BQB or just get in contact with me outside Namepros, you're welcome to do so.

Hi Guy,

I used the owner of http://www.trustahost.co.uk to get BQB back up and running. He's quite reasonable and really knows his stuff.

Reece I have an open banner position available on DotSauce and have taken the liberty to create a 125x125 graphic for BQB promotion. I know I'm no pro designer but it looks decent, imo.

I hope you don't mind.. please feel free to use it if you like.

Nice work and great looking graphic. I hope it attracts some visitors and gets the ball rolling again at BQB. It's such a great concept and really is a shame to see the lack of interest at the moment. Just need some anchor domains at good prices to attract regular visits.

Thanks David :)

Hopefully things will improve when the economy does. It gets a lot of traffic (about 2500-3000 pageviews/day) but just unfortunately doesn't have much for anyone to buy at present.

Hi Reece

I am currently busy working on a project. However I hope to have it finished in the next few days and will then be adding about 100 LLLL.com's for $15 BIN at BQB as well as pronounceable 5L.com's (near expiry) starting at 99c in auctions. Hopefully that attracts some interest.

BTW - Nice username change. Can't wait to see it when it's up and running. :tu:

I'm the same way Arnie :)

I sent a bid on Sedo for the name "LazyDomainer.com". Hope I get it because I've really been a poster child of it. At least I got rid of the TV... Sitting in front of the TV with a laptop pretending to work is not working! :hehe:

Hey Reece, what is the current member count for BQB?

496

Hasn't grown much since July, although most current users are still visiting the site.

I thought a slow economy might be a good time for a marketplace without a $60 minimum when I set BQB up March-May, although it looks like I was wrong in that regard.

Now BQB.com is forwarding to DomainNameScams.com

Whats up?

Since it appears that you have pulled the plug on the BQB project, does this mean that you will be refunding the $10 you charged people to get verified at BQB?

I for one really don't think that's necessary. Reece put every effort he could into trying to make BQB a success. In the process I can assure you that he lost a lot more than $10!

Reece tried to offer us a free marketplace to buy and sell domains where he decided not to charge us for listing or selling. I think the intention is worth much more than the $10 you paid. What if it was a success and you were able to buy and sell many domains through it? You would have saved hundreds of dollars in fees.

That's just my opinion anyway.

I concur. Good point. Reece gave it a valiant effort and I'm sure he put WAY more then the cost of the memberships into the site. Sorry to see it go.

Hi Guys,

I thought I replied to this awhile back but it looks like I didn't... Sorry for keeping you all in the dark. I took some huge losses on non-domaining investments over the past few months and just couldn't afford to keep running a project that wasn't anywhere near break-even.

I was hoping BQB would be a good venue for cheaper domains which couldn't be sold on Sedo/Afternic (eg. under $60 asking price), however prices on many of those domains took such a large hit from the time I started BQB (May 2008) to the time I closed it down that there really wasn't much BQB could offer as a marketplace by the time I shut it down. Sales went from $10,000+/month over the first few months to <$100/month by the end. With sales on the platform well under the costs associated with running it, it just didn't make sense imho to keep it going and nobody seemed to be benefiting from it anymore.

Bad timing on my part, coming out with it just a couple months before everything headed south in the USA, along with domain prices. I never made getting endusers on BQB a priority and in hindsight, that was a mistake, however I knew I could never compete with Sedo in that area.

I really do appreciate all the support many of you gave the project and I wish you all the best in 2009 :)

I appreciate you keeping us in the loop and taking suggestions as BQB took shape.

What's going to happen with the domain BQB.com?
