The Next World War?

Who do you think will be involved in the next world war?

With relations between Russia, Iran, China, and the United States tense, it could only be years until a massive conflict.

I'm guessing there will be an epic showdown between NATO and the EU (who will develop into a military pact) over the last oil reserves.

I'm just curious what you guys think? :|

Edit: By the way, the thread is supposed to have the "Not Good" tag, I don't know how it ended up with "Cool"...? :-/

How depressing ...

But, for discussion, I'd have to say whatever happens ... it will stem from Afghanistan/Pakistan (with the assistance of Iran), IMHO.

I pray for peace each and every day, however. :xf.love:

Why can't humans just live in peace without killing each other? Hopefully there won't be anymore world wars :(

Fixed the tag for you ;)

I feel kind of scared living in the US today -- not because of terrorism, but because of our own government and how they're handling the economy.

China likes to throw its weight around, but with the rapid economic expansion and prosperity, it's unlikely it'd want to change any of that by getting involved in more conflict. Russia likes to do the same to try and bring back its pride and dignity, and to show the world that they're still a major player.

Iran would have been an interesting issue, with the US unable to realistically (nor have the interest, ultimately) to take it on militarily. But with nukes in Pakistan, bin Laden in the neighborhood, angry citizens with anti-government sentiments, and an extremely volatile political environment, there's your real wild card.

This is indeed a frightening thought. I'd say the Caribbean is about the safest place to be right now ;). Just kidding though. No place will be safe in a world war.

China will surely be involved. I suspect India would be thrown in as their neighbor ...so you have 1.5 billion Chinese right next door to 1.1 billion Indians...

Religion could also play a huge role in any new World War. Wars have certainly started in the past over religious idealogy. Today's climate with well over a billion muslims which supposedly just surpased Catholicism as the most popular religion could easily ignite a new World War.

That's why these small battles (Iraq) actually serve a good purpose of keeping war in the headlines and people aware of the dangers. Better to have small wars than World Wars.

Like Albert Einstein said, ""I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

That should give you an idea of who will be involved...EVERYONE!

I try not to think about it, but I hope nations are smart enough to realize wars are such a waste on human lives and resources.

I don't think another world war could ever happen. After what was seen when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed, who's going to risk the effects of even more powerful bombs?

Tivo - Albert Eistein probably said that because he saw the effects of the atomic bomb. If a WW3 were to happen, it would be the end of the human race (or most of it). So that's why the war after that would be fought with cavemen tools. IMHO. :D

If a true WORLD WAR III breaks out you will see things you never knew existed.

^^^ agreed.

WWIII would lead to nuclear holocaust, it wouldn't matter who starts it, it surely won't matter who pushes the button first, the only result would be total destruction with decades of waiting for the handful of people that survive, until the surface is safe to step on again.
Small wars will most likely be centered around the mid east and afrikan regions with their civil wars.
Overall, a bad scenario that will most likely not change. If we reach the 9 billion in population by 2050, we're going to start killing over the neighbors empty parcel of land,...

As long as there is politics, religion, money and oil, there will be war. I hope it doesn't happen in my lifetime.

Very true ^^
And let's not forget that the American people have voted an idiot into office, who started a wanton war.
A safer world begins with you as a voter :yell:

I was just reading yesterday that we can expect severe food shortages world-wide, including in the US.. my take is food, not guns! I think people's energies need to be redirected. A major food aid charity is saying they can't feed 1.5 million of the 7.5 million they normally feed due to shortages.
