 They never learn. Atleast they should make it more believable by not sending it to someone in another country. :p

Happy New Year

I am here to let you know that there is something very much important
which I will like us to discuss and it is all about my life and my
situation here in Abidjan Cote d' Ivoire.

In a brief i am Miss Juile Ahmed, daughter to Late Mr and Mrs Peter
Ahmed of Mawere,Muzarabani-Zimbabwe , who was abducted on the faithful
day of 26 September 2004 and tortured to death by alleged Zanu PF
militias and war veterans for supporting the (Mr Morgan Tsvangirai)
Movement for Democratic Change, an opposition group to the tyranic
government of President Mugabe due to the war

I ran away from there which I am here in Abidjan Asylum camp due to the
untimely death of my beloved parents, and ever since then I have been
here with out any help or care.

Moreover, before the death of my father he made me to understand that he
deposited a box containing the sum of US$ 9.500,000 Million here in a
custody of a Security and Property Care company which in the document
written 'family valuables' I have all the documents backing the claim so
I need your urgent help to claim the box and transfer the money with
your name for onward investments in your country, also make a very good
transparent arrangement for me to come over to your country and contiune
my education and take care of me as your own blood child.

I am ready to offer you 20% out of the total fund.

Please contact me with this my pravite email adress ;([email protected])

Looking forward to hear from you.
Yours sincerely,
Juile Ahmed

the lottery scam is pretty common ... they are trying to take money by demanding an upfront fee for processing the transaction (and/or money transfer) . They might also be trying to steal personal information .

The other one looks like a variation of the 419 scams (also known as Nigerian) .

There are also the fakedating emails (I saw you in MySpace :hi: , I live nearby :hehe: , we should meet :sold: , blah blah blah :xf.love: ...) and the appraisal scams ... without mentioning the variety of eBay and PayPal phishing emails ...

They usually get the email addresses from the WHOIS , illegal aggregative mailing lists or by adding "info" , "sales" , etc in front of a domain they think they might steal money from (eg. [email protected]) .

Go to types of fraud in lookstoogoodtobetrue.com (partner with the FBI) to see other similar scams .

I think everyone gets tons of these to their spam addresses (ones they use on the inet) ... the funny part is there are SOOOOOooo many people that fall for it.

If they send it to 10,000,000 people and 17 people fall for it.... MO' MONEY, MO' MONEY, MO' MONEY
haha
