Many of us have speculated on prefixes and suffixes .TV

I agree that channel is an obvious and not just because of the Demand Media PR campaign. While most have focused on XXXXchannel.tv I also think channelXXXX.tv has a big upside with strong development potential.

However, like Equity has pointed out. The .TV TLD already lends itself to the fact that it is a channel.

What is the ”channel” or “xxxtv.tv” for that matter really adding? Granted, I think it is strong buy for the right keywords in both cases but my point is I have been researching some of the latest online trends for a business I am launching and I quickly realized the fact that the “mobile” prefix and suffix have strangely slipped under the radar and are being under appreciated to this point.

Now think about this objectively for a second. (Yes you too Millers)

XXXmobile.tv is an obvious mobile TV channel or content related to mobile TV, which in essence is the future ALL TV to some extent. You'll move all your content from one device to the next, even the TV in your family room.

As we will soon in the country. Mobile TV is about to bust out. Yes, it is not a secret, but people are missing the boat as to it's significance on both the content and platform side.

Great opportunities that still exist in this regard.

If someone will be searching for keywords ______channel.tv, it is not beyond reason that ____mobile.tv will be a very valuable asset. Certainly it is a great name for developing and branding. Now keep this in mind. I have searched extensively and watched this for a few weeks. I've studied the search results and what is being developed.

Many of the names below were registered in all major extensions except .TV Lets think about this rationally for a second. Now what name would you rather have to broadcast sports content on pods and phones? sportsmobile.net .org .info, .biz .ws. etc or sportsmobile.tv ? This is just one example of many that I found and feel is huge oversight. To me both xxxmobile and xxxmobile is perfect for the .TV TLD. I felt now was the time to make this move.

While channel is somewhat redundant. With sportsmobile.tv You are saying Sports Mobile Television.

To me this is a no brainier and as always, I welcome people to punch holes in my theory or comment that they agree?

The reason for this point is that there are still a TON of these keyword mobile names left and I guarantee you in 2 years from now you'll be happy you bought a few.

I'm looking into this for both development and investment. The Geo names are particularity exciting to me and have tons of potential IMO

Almost all of the names listed were taken in .com .net and .mobi and must had more TLD's taken?

The reason I'm so aggressive with this is because I really believe the window for these type of opportunities are closing fast.

I can't stress this enough, the future of ALL TV IS MOBILE TV – DO THE MATH

some of my mobileXXX.tv's are hedges, some have actually way better search numbers and are preferred.

By the way I picked up mechannel.tv just for the heck of it. Any ideas?

In my next post I'll write about another angle that I'm about to move on.

I like the mechannel.tv only because channelme.tv will receive a significant amount of investment, and you are likely to benefit from type in and search traffic out of the gate.

However, I personally will stick to buying keyword .tv names. I am trying not to jump on every potential investment strategy that someone comes up with. I like the theory but the further you get away from a keyword.tv, the riskier the investment becomes.

Given that we already have .mobi, then I cannot see a persuasive argument to pick these up for speculation purposes only. Following this strategy can lead to a lot of money chasing a very small opportunity.

The biggest hurdle to any domain name is development whether .tv or .mobi. With .tv, we have already seen LLLchannel.tv and channelLLL.tv, and LLLtv.tv. Very few of those type of domains have been sold and far fewer developed. Can we expect the same with LLLmobile.tv or mobileLLL.tv, I would say they are at the back of the bus even if they are on the bus.

At this point in time, any dot tv investor, in my humble opinion, will be best served to buy KEYWORD.tv names that are pure, i.e. nothing standing in front of or before the keyword, no channel, no station, and no mobile. This advice is particularly well suited for those that like the .tv concept and who want to speculate on its future. If you want to develop, get THE BEST brandable .tv name available for the price you are willing to pay and jump in head first. If you want advice on what is brandable, you can post your questions on this subforum or PM any one of the regulars.

Poodleman, this is a great idea in theory and I hope you do not interpret this as an attack. Its just very risky and I have noticed a lot of interest in the .tv domains and I would hate to see people start dropping 25 or more a pop for pure speculation purposes on a strategy like this. If it works out for you and anyone who follows it, then I think that is fabulous, but I just wanted to air a little caution and provide some background info for anyone new to the .tv field.

I appreciate the feedback Silicon.

I agree that pure keywords are the best. If you look at the names I decided to reg as far as mobile, they are the cream of the crop keywords and cities and to me that is why they are a good investment. Keep in mind, while I haven't gotten too into it in this forum. The company I'm starting deals with online entertainment content, so perhaps I look at this stuff differently from you in that I will have development opportunities if I take that path. I also come into contact with numerous people in the entertainment industry living here in Los Angeles.

That said, its worth rolling the dice even more with the knowledge that there is big time company behind .TV with a proven track record.

We'll see what happens....

The bottom line IMO on the mobilenet is that MOBI,COM and TV are all not winning. If .mobi becomes the default standard then it can go up against .com I really don't see too much of a play here although I like the flyer of SPORTSMobile but I once owned CityMobile.com and know what kind of traffic it got and from where and that was a far superior domain to CityMobile.tv IMO. This is a rather speculative play and without development I don't know where it goes.

Now in the past Poodle you are quick to jump with lines like "You don't think I can sell these for at least xx ?" Maybe you can, but you are one of the few playing .tv for xx I get pms here every week from people asking me about x,xxx offers and they not sure if they want to take that. So few in .tv playing the wholesale flip game. But if you got the money you can try to make that work buy for $25 sell for $75 I think you need to do it in Bulk to be worthwhile.

Thanks for the feedback!

EQ I don't think it's going to be about any one TLD ruling when it comes to the mobile content market. Of course .com will be there, but there is room for both .mobi as well as .tv. I'm convinced we'll see hugely successful companies using all three. The bottom line is that market is a 1.5 on a scale of 10 of where it will be in the next 5 years.

As for mechannel.tv what about using it as a base to sell all my domains that I'm not developing??

I like that idea for using Mechannel asyour sales site.

I agree we are early to the Mobile Net, I just don't believe that every ext will have great success, because people get into a habit of using one extension and if Mobi is marketed properly then why would a new company reg a ***mobile.tv ? maybe a few will, I am talking about on a big scale, but it is earlywho knows ? and anyone who says they "know" is just kidding themselves IMO
