I always have fun telling this one to people to see what they come up with for an answer.
3 guys go to a hotel and rent a room. Clerk tells them it is 30 dollars.
They pay 10 dollars each and go to room.
Clerk realizes he over charged them as the room was only supposed to be 25 dollars.
He gives the bellboy 5 dollars to take back to them.
Bellboy knocks on door and explains they were over charged.
The guys say, well give us each back 1 dollar and keep 2 dollars as a tip to break down that 5 dollars..
3 dollars and the 2 dollars the bellboy received = 5 dollars.
Each guy had paid 10 dollars originally 10x3=30 they paid to start.
Now they each get back 1 dollar, which means they paid 9 dollars each.
3x9=27 plus the 2 dollars bellboy received.
3x9=27+2 bellboy received = 29 dollars. They started out paying 30 dollars.
Where did the missing dollar go?
