I just finished scanning all 456,976+ LLLL.com combinations to get a picture of the current state based on the whole set rather than a sample. The whole run took about 12 hours so there is a small margin of error based on names being registered/dropped while I was running it, but otherwise this should be pretty accurate.
There were 76,711 names available in total. Of those 76,711 names, the following unpopular letters appeared at least once:
Q : 27,562
X : 17,245
Z : 17,931
J : 15,433
Obviously some names contain more than one of these characters, names available without any these characters came out at 13,878.
If the most popular letters are vowels (including Y) plus B,C,D,F,G,L,M,N,P,R,S,T there are 2,203 unregistered names containing only those characters. If you remove U and Y from the list of letters, there are *ZERO* unregistered.
If you leave Y out and put U back in there are 414 available.
If you leave U out and put Y back in there are 1144 available.
Personally I prefer the U as it can mean 'United' 'Universal' etc. For pronounacble names either will work.
Another interesting fact:
Even with ALL letters back in, there is nothing available starting or ending with EZ, USA, PSP and if anyone wants an 'NSA' domain go grab 'QNSA.COM' quick.
If you would like to see the full list of available as of the end of my scan, you can get it for the next few days at:

This took a long time to put together so if you found it useful PR, NP or candy in the mail is always appreciated.
Thanks
