Facebook to let users customize their profile addresses with nicknames

As title says, Facebook countdown has begun and, when finished, this page will let you choose your unique username. After you set your own, you can't edit it anymore, so it's important to be very careful. Obviously, many (including me) have started to think about the possible cybersquatting and the consequences it may have. Get ready to set yours, before someone steals it

Yes, it will be a pretty big facebook.com/..... landrush. Get ready for our industry to get sh*t upon again as the facebook squatters get ready to make fb accounts just to reserve some TM and celeb names..

[the_poet]

I'm sure some crazy guy will even try to sell Facebook usernames!

[nicedomains]

Unfortunately, yes.. You can be sure of that.

[the_poet]

By the way, what username would you choose? Name.Surname, NSurname, Surname, etc?

[gchick]

[-Alex-]

This is a wise decision, as it can help to reduce the consequences of cybersquatting. This way, nobody can sign up just to steal a username and 'park' the profile!

Facebook land rush tonight at Midnight(EST)

Tonight Facebook is staging one of the biggest virtual land grabs ever - the rush to claim your own name on Facebook.com.

Right now if you want to send someone to your profile, you have to figure out a URL that looks something like this: www.facebook.com/people/Your-Name/585946540

But wouldn't you rather own www.facebook.com/yourname?

It's on a first come basis, and if it's a url for a group/business page you have to have at least 1,000 members (prior to May 31st), so there's some restrictions.

I don't have a facebook, but some of you all might be interested in that. :D

Already a thread going in the Breakroom

Get ready, guys!

[MillersCrossing]

double post.

[Premiere]

I figured this was worth a post. As many of you know, Facebook issued vanity URLs tonight starting at 12 AM. You can get your own vanity url at Facebook Name Change. Your account must have been created prior to June 9th 2009 to be eligible for namechange.
I attempted to get domain/domains/domain.names but all were unavailable. I believe Facebook actually has a ban on those keywords.
I did manage to grab /auctions

Please post your vanity urls if you feel so inclined!
