The “Dinner Test”: Niches That People Talk About Offline vs Ones They Don’t

Something I’ve started paying attention to lately is what I call the dinner test. Some niche topics come up naturally in real-life conversations (pets, fitness routines, hobbies, DIY problems), while others almost never do, even if they look good on paper. Interestingly, brandable domains in niches people casually talk about seem to pick up early engagement more easily, even with minimal content. It makes me wonder how much offline conversation frequency influences early organic behavior. Has anyone else noticed that niches people enjoy talking about socially behave differently online?

Hi

depends on who’s sitting at the table with you…and of course- what’s being served could dictate conversations

we were raised not to talk with food in your mouth, but then again,
those “lip smacking, finger licking” meals tend to be more talkative than those turkey, dressing, macaroni and cheese with cranberry sauce type of dinners that make you want to just lay down and take a nap somewhere

umm, yum yum, snore, belch and farts

imo,…

I'm not sure casual dinner conversations is a very good metric to determine key-phrase or niche popularity/demand.

Some tools that might be a bit more accurate in determining popularity are:
