The country-code game? It's a CON.
Japan pushed .jp—"Buy it, stay Japanese, keep it ours." Mexico did .mx. Russia .ru. Every government did it. They collected fees. They got taxes. They got control. And what did their people get? A dead-end domain that nobody trusts.
Nobody in the US clicks on ".us." We see it, think it is total BS we scroll past. It's local. It's small. Same for .mx—feels like a border wall. .ru? Looks shady. .jp? No one outside Tokyo gives a damn.
I myself have seen Tokyo web developers scam the Japanese people out of millions by saying their JAPANESE language "DOESN'T WORK WITH A .COM" I recall this one person that took a an error screen shot and left it as a landing page background to deter the Japanese from using their language with a .com , BUT AS A favor and for thousands he WOULD out of the kindness of his heart build them a .jp website..
oh later btw that guy sold the .com he used in the error prompt for millions to the Japanese.

The web doesn't care about passports. It wants .com. Clean. Global. No questions.
They sold their citizens garbage. While the real prize—.com—was right there. Free.
Now? They're scrambling. Their brands fade. Their traffic dies. They could've owned the world. Instead, they bought a cage.
If you're in any country that bought this lie—buy your .com today. In your language. Because it's the last one left.
Don't wait. Don't be cheap.
.com isn't a domain. It's FREEDOM.
Do it NOW.
.COM is gold .... you can buy that .ai all you want ...I think they are a distraction..

ANYONE clicked a .jp lately? these countries scammed their own people outta millions.. plus left them LIMITED to global customers. My advice?
GET RID OF YOUR COUNTRY CODE AND BUY the .COM in your native script.

.COM is definitely the global standard but strong country-code domains still work very well within their local markets.
