TDNAM Traffic Numbers Don't Match Up

Has anyone noticed that in the last 2-3 months that the TDNAM traffic numbers shown for domain auctions is not matching up anymore really? I am speaking more specifically on generics, not expired traffic domains.

I buy tons of domains there so its not just isolated cases. In one example, I just bought a domain that supposedly had 180 monthly uniques but is on track to do 950 uniques. On another I supposedly had 5,500 uniques, but only is doing 1000.
Also, I have noticed that many, many domains that supposedly have low numbers, like 15 uniques a month, are actually doing 50 or 100. These domains are at Parked.com, so I know it is not something like a Sedo run up of the numbers that Sedo is known for.

I can't make heads or tails on the traffic anymore - I just go on gut feeling now.

Are you buying the domains from Tdnam just for the traffic godaddy is saying they get.. If so then you may loose money in the long run, I never buy a domains from there just because of the traffic stats alone..

stats werent accurate at tdnam drom the beginning,
for the last month i ll say that they are completely wrong.
Be carefull for domains with high stats but poor history

my experiment is that if tdnam says if it is low traffic, it never got high traffic after I bought it.

what kind of revenue can you generate from your names with 1000 uniques?

cache i m generating from $2 per click to $.30
that domain gets 100 uniques per day and fetchs me from $1 to $4

another domain fetched me almost $2000 in 3 months while i bought it for $400.

Both of those domain had more traffic that tdnam stated.

And the list goes on...

I am generally not losing money on any TDNAM investments, in fact I am doing quite well with a system I developed where I only purchase when a domain meets certain critieria. I am doing my due diligence before purchasing.

I agree with this totally. They were never accurate, but in the last couple three months the numbers seem to be totally skewed.

I like domains with absolutely no history, which means then the numbers are less skewed, or not skewed at all, historically speaking, but now...... it's hard to tell anymore. I don't know what GD did, but they are counting numbers differently now. Maybe they have a bug and don't know it.

Cache, that all depends on the domain, doesn't it? Usually at TDNAM, when you get that high it's b/c of outside influences or it's a foreign domain, maybe a city name or something, but truthfully, the good domains are getting harder to find there or elsewhere.

I bought 10 domains that one person let go at TDNAM and no one really recognized the value and I snagged them all. They get about 30 uniques daily, collectively, and have to do with colleges, are generic, and I make about $40 to $50 every day on them, so it's not always about the high traffic, but quality. I generally find the higher the traffic the lower the click amount per click.

I recently bought a torrent domain there with about 800 monthly uniques, but so far I have not been able to make too much off the traffic. So, it all depends.

You do have to be careful. Betting big on big traffic at TDNAM can be very rewarding or truly disasterous. I have a few disaster domains that I spent thousands on but are duds, but I have many others I am making bank on. It's a learning experience. Once you make a few mistakes, it gets easier to spot deals. Also, big traffic does not act like small traffic so each is a different animal and recognizing the good from a bad is a talent.
