It looks like Dot TV tasting is becoming more and more common. I occasionally find a drop that generates enough revenue to pay renewal (well almost).

Anyone care to share his or her experiences. There are no grace delete fees at DD, so you could taste 100 at a time FREE. I started thinking about this when 46 domains were registered from yesterday's drop. I bet in a few days many of those names will be free again.

Can you explain how you do this and how works? I have always been curious but I never got involved in this side of domaining. I am very curious to hear the ins and outs.

Hi Kevin.

Basically you just open a free account at DynaDot and start registering drops. They provide parking and free grace deletion for .TV (major TLDs are .20 each).

You get to "taste" the domain for 5 days. Often times I'll register a domain on a whim and then grace delete after determining it was a bad reg. Professional domainers register hundreds, often times thousands of domains for tasting.

The premise is to find domains with traffic, park them, and hopefully generate enough parking revenue to cover renewals. I find for .TV names it gives me a chance to, not only check for traffic, which is rare, but also to wait for a better drop and replace the previous domain with a better domain.

Greg,

Actually, I also tried the same approach few months ago.
However, it was difficult for me to find a dropped .tv to cover its renewal fee, ($32.99 on DynaDot if I remember it correctly), since I only have a parking account with Sedo.

I am curious, for those .tv you found, where do you usually park them ?

With a bulk account it's $23.99.

The only .TV that I have paying it's renewal at the moment is oatmeal.tv which was a hand reg a few weeks ago. I like sedo's parked pages the best.

Thank you for sharing. Where do you find the drops at?

Did you try Bodis and leave for SEDO after the fraud issue and before they got back up and running? I ran SEDO moved to Bodis and am contemplating another move. I will never go back to SEDO because of how they operate their marketplace and I am beginning to think that it could generate revenue to make my own single parking page with ads for some of the higher traffic names. I will keep you posted.
