Hi

I am a newbie to domaining. Please let me know what you opinion is on the sale value for TackleShops.net (for the domain name only).

Your opinions are much appreciated!

Without the "S" at the end you could sell it to a shop and ask mid xxx for it. With the extra "s" it's only destiny is to be a tackle shop directory listing IMHO. Value mid xx undeveloped.

I hope im wrong and you get lots of $ for it, it's just my opinion.

Hi shopperx

Thanks again for the valuable info. I appreciate where you are coming from with the "S" in thus name and I notice that all the main singular names are taken already which backs up your point! How could I go about developing this name as a directory to add more value to it?

Thanks, kaz2

There are free directory indexing scripts. If you use the search feature here at namepros im sure you will find something useful. If not, try hotscripts dot com, its a good source for scripts.

After your directory is ready you will need to promote it, and maybe charge a small fee for a featured listing.

Thanks for the information shopperx; just a quick query on keyword related domain names - one reason I registered this domain was because it had high google results (370,000+). Woud this indicate that it has good type-in potential or woud this only apply to the .com version of the name?

You can check the type-ins using the OVT tool above, just put in the search field the domain + extension. Low score domains show no results.

The google results are good for spell checking, grammar, and term popularity. If you search for "gift certificate" (!with quotes!) and it shows millions of results and your domain is giftcertificate dot com,net (exact match) then espect good money for it.

Right, what you are saying is that the search term / keyword terms (s) in overture or google must be an exact match with your domain name?

You have, on another post, told me that over 10K is a good overture result - what is considered a good return from google for a reach term?

After taking all the above into account am I correct in thinking that even if a search term / keyword(s) has high overture and google results if there are no bids in overture and n google adwords then it is no good from a domainers point of view? An example is "on the other hand" which returns 59,000,0000 google results but not a single advert?

Thanks, kaz2.

They mustn't. Its just my suggestion based on experience. The OVT tool doesnt distinguish plural from singular, thats when you have to use google/common sense to find the natural search term.

I've seen many buyers here and at other forums interested in OVT domains with more than 10K results in certain categories.

"on the other hand" is not a brandable/commercial domain. Thats why it doesnt has advertisers. I think people type it in search engines for spell check.

You usually would like to target high OVT score domain with lots of google results (with quotes) and with potential. Think who will be the potential buyer and how big the market is.

If you are into adwords (like me) there's a tool there to search for keywords/keyphrases and it shows the search volume vs. the advertisers volume for that term.

Hope this helps,

Once again, thanks for the info shopperx. When you say you are into adwords, do you mean that you like to see several competitive ads thrown up when the term is searched for in google?

As an aside, how do you manage to find overture scores of over 10K (is this per day or per month?).

I mean im using it to advertise my company webpage ATM. I would prefer if im the only one bidding on "web hosting" but the truth is the market is very competitive. Thats why they offer a tool to check search volume vs advertisers volume so you can bid on keys with high search volume and low advertisers.
