Hi

I am a newbie to domaining. Please let me know what you opinion is on the sale value for Beginnersgerman.com (for the domain name only).

Your opinions are much appreciated!

In my experience it's not good to have an extra "S" in the middle of the domain, you can sell it but it's harder because of it.

Aprox. price low xxx IMO.

Thanks very much for the information. I was especially interested to learn about the issue with the "S". Does this mean that the name "beginnergerman.com" would be more valuable as it doesn't have the "S" although beginners german is grammatically mor accurate and it has twice as many google results?

Thanks, kaz2.

The correct result you see at google is for the term "German for beginners" which is a lot different than beginnersgerman, in the last case you cant tell by the name what's the site about.

I would prefer a more accurate domain if you are planning to sell/develop for German course. Without the "S" it holds more value but there can be a better match available for this term.

Hi shopperx

Thanks for the info, it's really good stuff and I appreciate your taking the time to answer me. Regarding your most recent post, I'm not sure what you meant by the correct google result being "german for beginners" rather than "beginners german" - by this do you mean that the more natural search term or keyword term would be the one you stated rather than the one I did? I have to add that the google results bear out your post - there is alot I have to learn....

Your reply is much appreciated!

Regards, kaz2.

Yes, you got all my ideas right.

Hey if you want to know what people is searching for use this tool:

http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

According to it only 447 people searched for "german beginner" in Nov 2006. You must target domains with searh result over 10K at least, the fast sellers are the ones that have Overture (OVT) score of 100K or more.

Hi shopperx. Thanks for the tool link. I have been using a free software program called Good Keywords for the same thing but what I have found is that it seems to be very hard to locate a search term with over 10K results let aloe 100K!

As an example, if I located a keyword term like "vanilla leopards" for example with overture results of say 150,000 would it automatically follow that the domain name vanillaleopards.com would be valuable even though it was not a direct type-in term (ie there were no overture results for the domain name "vanillaleopards.com")?

Sorry for all the questions, I have so much to learn and you have been very helpful.

Regards, kaz2.

Thats right, i would reg the exact match in com or net extension, always keep in mind how many potential buyers can you target, the more the better.

I dedicate most of my portfolio to mortgage, real estate and loans domains. Huge market there.

Shopperx, sorry to labour the point about type-ins but are you saying that, even if the exact domain, with a .com extension, had 0 matches in overture it would still be valuable if (1) there were a large number of exact overture results for the search term making up the full domain name? (2) there is a large market.

I am also curious at how do you manage to find search terms in overture with over 10,000 searches a day?

Thats right, its still valuable. Think of the potential buyers, the ones you will contact to sell the domain. The more the better.

I searched for a term in OVT and saved the results with +10K score in a .txt file, then used my own program to check for availability in com and net extensions. You can also use the bulk checker at moniker (up to 500 domains):

Thanks shopperx. I think I am getting the hang of this now. When you refer to potential buyers you are, in the main, referring to end-users of the domain name that you have registered rather than other domainers who may be buying for development and resale?

You may think in both, first try to contact the end users and then the domainers.

I usually search for the top companies in the domain's category and email their marketing dept, some send letters and some even call them. I also use adwords to advertise my domains, in a near future i'll use press releases (im still learning this possibility).

Hi, I take it you try to contact end-users directly as there is more potential for a high value sale than to a domainer who is looking to sell on?

Yes, we are all here for the big bucks are we?

Im wating for monday to see if i receive any reply for my letters and if you know someone interested in a: domains + 2y hosting + 1y web design deal (Signature link) let me know. There's a 10% comission if you refer the auction winner.
