I have been sitting on this domain for many years and I'm thinking there might be potential on a big price, what do you think? I have a website that is not really doing anything and I had plans to create another online car classifieds website. I'm now thinking of just making a large logo and a domain sales page with cool graphics of cars etc and then try to sell the domain name to a car sales company.

In Australia we do use the .com.au extension but companies also use .com in a lot of situations. The advantage of the .com is it is seen as quicker and easier to type.

Some ideas I had were to build an email list of Sydney car sales businesses, online car sales and any other car related business that could be interested in this domain. I would then create an email to say that the domain will go on sale on a certain date on a certain website etc and they are all invited to this auction and build up a bit of hype over it etc.

I have never done anything like this before so I would like to hear from experienced traders what they think of this and any advice or tips to give me.

I would also like to know what price range I could aim for?

Well youll have to find someone who wants it Specifically in the Sydney area or a company thats called sydney autos, you could turn it into a forum
another thing is you might want to own SydneyAuto.com SydneyCar.com Sydney Cars.com Just to make sure no one else own its and you could pitch that to a sydney car company that they will own all four of those

I just started a forum with my website CarMph.com its also for sale

thanks for the ideas and feedback. I never thought of making it a forum and it's not a bad idea although I'm not that successful with running forums as I have 2 already that are pretty slow.

As an Australian I don't like the autos part, car or cars would be far nicer given we don't often say autos

It's a neat name. With myself living in Sydney, I have come across many places of business trading under the "Sydney Autos" name. Dedicate some time into sourcing these places out..No harm in reaching out.

Good luck.

thanks for the feedback. It's good to hear from other Australians too. I did think about the "autos" part been more American but I think these days with such a global economy this has changed a lot and like Nazz I have seen the term "autos" used in the local car industry quite a bit now.

I will give it a go, make this a bit of a project and get some potential buyers on a list for a start.

Do you think I should include a website, if so what type or maybe just a nice domain sales page?

Its an excellent name for the right buyer (as all are lol) but would prefer the "auto" vs "autos" because thats how people speak. We happen to own PalmSpringsAuto.com and want a lot of $$$ for it in this high rent area of So. California. Good luck.

I agree with the above, being from Oz as well they term "Autos" is not common and we mainly use cars

The fact its .com and not .com.au also hurts this name
