Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum. I wanted to get everyone's appraisal value of my domain, syce.com. It has been registered for 11 years and has two separate meanings;

In India, according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary
"An attendant (as a groom) especially in India."

In the United States as a "slang term" according to Urban Dictionary
"To upgrade, to make better, to give more than expected."

There are roughly 1,600 searches/month for this keyword according to Google Keyword Planner.

If anyone can help me out as I am trying with an estimation as I am trying to sell this domain, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

Four letter, pronounceable, highly brandable, no TM problem, a meaning, 11 years old. This domain is in the five figures, but it depends on you how much do you want this five figures go up and up. Can you turn down a $10,000 offer? That is what you will get. Being you I would keep it until someone offer mid to high xxxxx, then I would sell. It is only $10 per year to upkeep it. Be patient and get the top dollars, this domain could be the next headline of a domaining news report.

ecuadorbusiness, man, $10 000!? I think this is highly positive thinking and highly unlikely to happen.Do you know what you can do with $10 000?

However the domain is nice. Surely it will go into $XXX, maybe high $XXX to some resellers with cash. Maybe low $XXXX to enduser.

Depends how lucky the owner is.

Good luck.

Well perhaps I am wrong, but the world of domaining is insane sometimes anyways. :music:

All those domains sold insane, why this one could not?. Why always them and not me? You can!

Keep it and wait for top dollars.

With a premium name like this, you can't sell yourself short in any wholesale market.
Be patient. Do NOT offer this to domainers. Think T.R.A.F.F.I.C. or Heritage Auctions.

Example of actual sales:

LINE.COM $118,000
FOBO.COM $ 57,500
ZEBU.COM $ 40,000
RBOT.COM $ 18,000
YUNA.COM $ 10,008
SBSC.COM $ 8,800
GOSF.COM $ 7,500

SYCE.COM is well below LINE.COM, but better than FOBO.com.

DomainBizDev and ecuadorbusiness,

Thank you for your replies as I greatly appreciate it. Do you think the fact that FOBO.com has two vowels in it is and is LLLL.com why this went for $50,000+?

Of course LLLL.com is important. Two vowels is a great value booster.
Mainly, FOBO was exactly what the buyer wanted: a short / brandable nickname for foto-bausteine.

Considering all that, SYCE.COM is not necessarily better than FOBO.COM.
But, it is a great domain. I would guard it as a $15-30k asset.
Ultimately your potential buyers will decide the value.

Market fancies perhaps, the only way a domain reaches those prices is because many are bidding for it, top prices depend on the number of people really interested and willing to put high dollars to get the domain. Two or three top companies struggling for a domain can do the difference.

FOBO Doubble "O"s Prononceable in many language.
Taken in lot of tlds.

SYCE Ends with an "e" Do not pass the radio test IMO. Its sounds Weird.
.com .net .org .info .co.uk are taken

I'll say $2.5K End-User or more if it can be a good acronym.

I just Bought a name mid $x,xxx and its way better..

IMO

I've asterisked names that don't pass the radio test (by the same criteria).
Also, look at 4 letter names in Brand Bucket. They move names, their prices are not fantasy.

It's not like every LLLL.com is going to sell for 4 figures. Plenty are dropping because they are not selling and domainers are wasting huge money on their pipe dreams. The truth is that many 4L are garbage and a stroke of luck here and there does not shape a market.

SYCE: pronounceable, but as said above does not pass the radio test.
I see two possibilities:
  • an end user wants the domain because he has made up an acronym eg South York Corporate Education or whatever, that makes the matching domain desirable for his/her particular purpose
  • an end user wants to brand a new product or service as 'Syce' for whatever reasons
I think this one could sell for $$$, possibly more but it's not the most liquid type of domain. It's not the worst either. You need some luck and the stars aligned just right.

Since you have held this domain for a decade, have you received any offers or expressions interest yet ?

If you have to tell someone how to spell it, that takes away from its value big time. When someone asks for your url and you say, "It's syce.com", the person asking will stand and wait until you say, "That's s-y-c-e dot com". They don't know if you're saying "sice, seis, sise, syss, zeiss, or whatever. Compare that to fobo.com.
