Switching Hosts - PHPBB Question

Hi all - my question is 2 fold.

1-thinking of switching to CirtexHosting to utlize their one click phpmotion script and have done so for a test site and have experienced some problems already only 48 hours in. The scripting is fine and does what it says, but I had problems logging into cpanel and even accessing my test site this morning, it would not load. Now its back to normal but if this is common then I need another host for my real site, I can't have downtime like that. Any suggestions? I really need a host that will install the phpmotion video sharing script because I am pretty much illiterate when it comes to that stuff. Would I be better doing Virtual Dedicated servers?

2-When and if I switch hosts, is it possible to copy my files and move them, specifically asking about my forum which is phpbb. I don NOT want to lose any of the previous posts that have been built up so this is critical. Is this possible?

Depends on the your size you can switch to the VPS. Assuming you do not have access to your data now you will need to do backup and try to restore it.

Yes coppy the databases and files via ftp just copy and paste to your desktop then when you move hte site ask your host to offer you a automated transfer Most will do dit for free.

Depending on the database side that can be done. I assume that is quite big, so do not play games with that and risk. better have shell access for that

I think that you can give such task your new web hosting company. They are paid by you and they should help you.

If your site is a very popular and frequently used phpmotion script then I would suggest a virtual dedicated/private server.

Any respectable host will install a script for you. Check with sales before you purchase.

Again, any respectable host will move over your files and database and recreate your website on their server - it is usually mentioned on the website as an enticement to change to their service.

I have been with cirtex for a while for a vid site of mine and they are really reliable.
Ask for their help if you need to transfer anything. Superb fast communication.
Anything else ask on their forum.
