This is getting very interesting!

Two more women's bodies are found
Two more bodies have been found by police investigating the murders of three prostitutes.
A member of the public spotted one body on Tuesday afternoon and Suffolk police launched their helicopter and the pilot spotted a second nearby.

A woodland area around the riverside village of Levington, near Ipswich, in Suffolk has been sealed off.

Police said it is likely the two bodies are those of two missing women - Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls.

The area is close to where the body of Anneli Alderton was found on Sunday. The bodies of Gemma Adams, and Tania Nicol, were also found near Ipswich.

Ms Clennell, 24, and 29-year-old Ms Nicholls, have not been heard from since Sunday.

Suffolk police officers were called to Levington shortly after 1500 GMT on Tuesday.

The site is off the main road between Ipswich and Felixstowe docks close to a railway line, the Orwell estuary, a marina and is in a rural area close Ipswich.

The officer leading the murder inquiry, Det Chief Sup Stewart Gull, said the "natural assumption" was that the bodies were those of missing prostitutes Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls.

Final interview

Ms Clennell gave an interview to ITV on 5 December in which she said she was prepared to go back on the streets despite the emerging danger because "I need the money".

But she admitted the killings had made her "a bit wary about getting into cars".

However, she said she would probably still continue to do so despite already having had "a couple of nasty experiences", including being beaten up once.

Ms Clennell also said she had noticed there were now fewer men and prostitutes around.

"The girls are probably wary about coming out now," she said.

The naked body of Gemma Adams, 25, was found on December 2 in woodland at Hintlesham, on the outskirts of Ipswich. She had last been seen on November 15.

On December 8 the body of Tania Nicol, 19, was found in nearby Copdock. She was the first to go missing and had last been seen on October 30.

It was still not known if there was one or more than one killer on the loose
Alastair McWhirter

The naked body of the third prostitute, Anneli Alderton, 24, from Colchester in Essex, was discovered at the weekend in Nacton, a few miles further east.

Two more bodies have now been found in the neighbouring village of Levington, a mile or so from Nacton.

All the bodies were found close to the A14, which runs to the nearby port of Felixstowe.

Mr Gull said: "We've formally linked the murders of Tania and Gemma because of significant similarities, and they continue with Anneli, Paula and Annette.

"Clearly they were all prostitutes from Ipswich, they were found naked and in an open rural environment.

"This is so fast-moving, we need to take stock and maximise opportunities to recover forensic evidence from the scene before formally establishing whether they are linked or not.

"We need to catch this person or persons as quickly as possible."

Suffolk Chief Constable Alastair McWhirter described the multiple murder inquiry as "unprecedented".

"If you think of the Yorkshire Ripper, the murders took place over a long period of time," he said.

Mr McWhirter said it was still not known if there was one or more than one killer on the loose.

He said the force was bringing in assistance from other forces around the country to help in the inquiry.

Mr Gull said no further prostitutes had been reported as missing in Ipswich.

Very ripper-esque, hope the guy is found soon.

This really highlights some of the problems with prostitution and shows why they are such easy targets.

I agree. The fact that we almost assume prostitutes to be the victims before its even confirmed emphasises how much of a vulnerable position these women put themselves in. I know I won't be selling my body in Suffolk until he/(she) is caught. :hehe:
Horrendous news but more interesting than the usual crap.

Interesting is not the right word.. disgusting is more appropriate.. I live in Ipswich and my oldest daughter went to school with the nichol girl.

People here are petrified to say the least this sick killer is killing in a mad frenzy and now the police have all the red light area blocked off my concern now is the sick killer will go after all women..

I now run my daughters and my wife everywhere, I have loaded my car with tools and if i see anyone in distress i will take it upon myself being X military to break them.

Having this kind of perverted crime come to my little town is sickning to say the least far from interesting we dont want it.

Sorry if my post is a little hostile this is not what the little community of Ipswich needs with the festive season here everyone should be merry and having parties not being scared of their own shadows if they go out at night.

Agreed. I have to disagree with the wording of Sabre's comment too.

I would say it's more to do with society, the police and politician's poor handling and attitudes towards prostitution.

Read this news story, hopefully that'll give you all a different perspective.

What we are doing:
  • Absolutely nothing to help these women.
  • Our police are "cracking down" on prostitutes but not on the problems BEHIND prostitution. They "forced the women into ever darker corners and more quickly into strange menโ€™s cars in order to evade arrest. And that, according to prostitutes in Ipswich and elsewhere, has left them more vulnerable than ever."
  • Our politicians are too busy with their petty political inter-party squabbles to take note of the real problems out there, and work out solutions to the causes rather than constantly trying to ban people regardless of the reasons.

What we should be doing:
  • License/legalise prostitution - which includes the 100% necessary medical checks, protection for prostitutes, maybe even some form of register so if/when prostitutes go missing, it's recognized immediately and police are alerted.
  • Most importantly, offering and widely implementing rehab services for free to every single prostitute (and non-prostitute) out there. I'm sure the majority of drug addicted prostitutes would not be prostitutes if they weren't addicted to heroin and other drugs.
  • Cracking down on pimps and the people who get these girls addicted to heroin and other drugs in the first place.

What else needs to be done:
  • Seriously consider legalising and/or controlling drugs and drug use. The current system doesn't work, the number of addicts essentially forced into prostitution/homelessness/crime proves that.
Note: IMHO "legalising" does not mean just giving out drugs to everyone, with no consequences. People should be encouraged and helped to get off drugs, and also helped to get decent accomodation and jobs. They should also be properly educated or further educated, and be taught how to live life without drugs, crime and prostitution.
  • Make our politicians WORK for their money.
Instead of attending the Houses of Parliament, or whatever else it is they do (or should that be "don't do"), they should spend a day a month getting to know the problems from the people's perspective.
They should spend a day talking to prostitutes, homeless people, single parents, convicted criminals and ex-criminals, right the way through to council staff, hospital staff and teachers.
They should find out exactly what the problems are and what can be done to solve them, from the people themselves, the people on the frontline, and then report that info back to the other MPs in the Houses of Parliament.

We, as a society, a government, a country, failed those five women. Not only that, we fail people like that on a daily basis. We should be helping drug addicted people/prostitutes so they don't have to sell their body or commit crime to fund their habit. Instead we are making them out to be master criminals.

We certainly have the means and the capital, and in this day and age, we should not be failing anyone, yet we are and no one seems to be doing a damn thing about it.

How many more need to die, how many more crimes need to be committed and how many more of our young girls/women need to be forced into prostitution before this problem is addressed?

Ironically 1 of the girls who's body was discovered the other day was interviewed by ITV (UK tv channel) about the murders a week ago. Now she ends up as 1 of the victims.
