I registered a domain yesterday. Put up a website using my script DNS Portfolio. Today, I have 2 pages on page one of Google (using "keyword keyword" as the search term... the domain name), the index page and the about page (with nothing on about page), with total results of 15,700. What happened to the Google Sand Box. Is it still operational? No. I won't tell you the domain name.

Now to work on it so that "keyword keyword" ranks in, "keyword (more specific keyword)" where it doesn't rank yet in the top 10 pages with 75,200 results indexed. I don't think that will be so hard, though.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

It could be a temporary issıue, when Google detects it's a two page mini site like page, they will remove it from the search results for sure.

The sandbox still exists to my knowledge. At the same time, this isn't the first time I've seen this happen.

From personal experience in the past I can say that sometimes Google will give you a little "taste" of what you could expect to see once you come out of the sandbox. Basically, your new site gets launched - You rank well for a few days or so - Then you hit the sandbox for a little bit before getting established in the SERPS..

Maybe not every site will get sandboxed and your rankings will stick..Either way, can't be mad about a page one ranking that quickly :)

It's more than two pages but it is a bit thin on the ground. The main content page (my script) wasn't one of those pages on the first page. I didn't check past page #2.

OK. I just checked again.

#8 The Index Page
#9 The Privacy Page (I have to fix the title for that page)
#11 The Portfolio Page (with 2 domains listed in that link)
#12 The Links Page

Not bad for 48hrs since registering the domain :)

new sites tend to rank well for a short time.

I have put blogs up and right off the bat are high in google.
And mostly stay there.

Those that say your site will drop out, go into some box full of sand, are just jealous!

Congrats guy and keep up the good work.

Exactly. Seems like the new thing in the grey market is to run and dump these kind of websites. A lot of guys making some coin making mini sites and then dumping them once google sandboxes the crap out of it.

This is really good to know..you made it with just little effort..

Well it was about 15hrs solid work putting in all the domain names and redirecting them.So it was more than just a little effort. Of course it depends what you mean by "little" :)

OK. All pages have disappeared from the top 20 google pages apart from my links page which is on page 7. But they have been replace by some individual domain for sale pages on page2 1 domain, page4 1 domain, page6 2 domains, page7 4 domains. I only looked at the top 10 pages. Of course these have no relationship to the keywords I'm using at all (apart from the page being on a domain name which is using my keywords).

Sounds like the typical sandbox from google. These days no real motivation to make mini sites unless its a 50+ page real authentic source of information.

Shame really.

I understand what you're saying Sam. It is a 5 page minisite (of sorts) but there were about 400 domains for sale on the portfolio pages. So that's makes it about 405 pages :)

I find it somewhat interesting that these domain for sale pages are being listed when they having nothing to do with the keywords other than they are on a website which includes these keywords, and which has been sandboxed. So I'm not sure why these are being listed when all my main pages have been sandboxed.

I'm not complaining about being sandboxed, my site will come back when it's un-sandboxed. But why they don't sandbox all the pages seems strange. Still it's early days, perhaps over the next week, all these pages will be gone.

UPDATE: I just checked. My index page is back on the first page at #4. Higher than ever :)

My index page is now #2 for my keywords and I have 3 domains on page #2. Didn't look any farther.

So. It's been a week since I registered the domain name. Index page still at #2 spot. Portfolio page on Page #3. Links page on Page #8. But the big change is there are now 70 Domain For Sale pages in the top 10 Google Pages.

Another interesting thing the number of results for the search "keyword keyword" has gone from 15700 to 2590. So this is not an ultra-competitive niche. But I own it :)

In coming weeks I'm going to rinse and repeat this in other niches. And I'm going to try to rank for the search term "keyword (more specific keyword)". The whole intention here is to sell more domains by getting more eyeballs viewing my domains.

Wow! I just had my first serious offer for a domain I had listed. Let's wait and see if it completes.

This sounds like good exposure. Any offers from this this new strategy?

I can't tell you what or how I am doing this exactly. But I can say it involves showcasing your domains on my DNS Portfolio script, and SEOing the index page. I'm experimenting with having a niche domain for a niche portion of my portfolio, rather than everything all bundled together on one domain. That way you are targeting your domains into a niche Google search. It should bring more targeted visitors. But only time will tell.

The script has just been modernized with HTML5/CSS3. So if you use IE, you need at least IE9 but preferably IE10. Most modern browsers work fine. This thread is not a plug for my script however. It's more to do with how Google goes about indexing newly registered domains, and the niche targeting of domain sales. I'm still waiting for the sandbox hammer to knock me out.

If you mean domain offers. Yes I just had one. See the post above yours (same timestamp). So not bad for one very full days work, and then waiting a week. I think this niche targeting is working.

Finally. My index page is #1 with 3 Domain For Sale Pages on the first page. A total of 4 pages in the top ten slots on Google SERPS. 7 days after registering the domain. (The domain was last dropped in 2010). Of course this isn't a competitive niche with only 2590 pages (was 15700 when I started). But my dominance of this niche is still impressive. IMHO. Taking 70% of the slots on the first 10 Google SERPS pages.

I think this also demonstrates the usefulness of exact match .com domain to your search terms, "keyword keyword" in the Google SERPS.

There were 2 backlinks when the domain was registered (from previous registrations). There are still 2 external backlinks. The other backlinks there are, which MajesticSEO call external backlinks. I kind of see why they call them external backlinks because it's the forwarding of the domain name (at the registrar) to it's Domain For Sale Page. So eventually there will be about 400 of these backlinks (the number of domains I have for sale on my script).

An update:

My pages still take up 70 slots of the top 100 slots (10 pages) in Google's SERPS when searching for "keyword keyword" (the domain name). The Index page has dropped to #3, Privacy page is #17, Portfolio page is #38, and there are another 3 site pages just outside the top 100 slots. The number of pages in Google is 2260.

New:

So I've now rinsed and repeated this on an old domain which was just being parked. Before any of my pages were indexed the number of pages in Google was 78600. Now my pages are being indexed, the pages in Google are 8110. This was the same dramatic decrease I saw with the new domain. I have about 170 domains on this niche domain.I have 3 pages on the 1st page of google SERPS. #7 Portfolio Page (Decending), #8 A Domain For Sale Page, #9 Portfolio Page (Ascending). I have 21 Domain For Sale Pages in the top 60 slots in Google SERPS. There is no sign of my Index page. This is not bad after only 3 days. I expect this to improve over the next few days.
