In case you haven’t heard my partners and I are opening up not only a domain brokerage, not only a marketplace on Stud.com but we have added some secret sauces that’s going to blow the doors off of the industry and open us up to the world.

Stud.com was born on July 1 via a Twitter post and for the last 100 days or so we have been working night and day to bring Stud.com online.

The domain marketplace is about 1/3 of what stud.com is going to be about.

In the weeks ahead we will unveil version 1.0 of STUD. But we won’t stop there. We have big plans for expansion as we add these new features.

So we went back to the drawing board and created the next big thing. Domainers need to Be the Boss.

But 1980's/1990's porn term for a domain platform in the 2020's, a mascot of an horse that resembled Rick slightly, a company slogan saying 'we breed domain names' i.e. we mate domain names :unsure:

Was the project ever really 'serious'?

Both names are bad choices. And if you want to be in the businesses of selling domains, you would figure that's one of the first things you would get correct.

It is unprofessional to engage in public blame and criticism, therefore it is important to refrain from doing so. It is not recommended to list all negative aspects unless specifically requested to do so, for instance, through a live video chat.

In the context of startups, teamwork is vital, and individuals must work collaboratively towards shared goals. It is counterproductive to attribute blame to others, as it undermines the team's overall progress.

It is advisable to prioritize the focus on achieving goals. It is important to stand up for oneself when necessary, however, this should be done in a professional and respectful manner.

It is evident that domainers are paying high commissions, and this needs to be addressed. Dan.com's past success was attributed to working effectively with domainers. It is essential to recognize that when domainers save money by avoiding commissions, it enhances their relationship with the business and will build trust.

I'm not criticizing, I'm giving an opinion on the matter, something Rick has done with many businesses.

As said I'm all for people trying, but i couldn't work out if this project and whole business plan of 'Stud' was ever serious or not, the business plan in short was sign your domain up to the platform (this costs a large fee) wait years and years to sell your domain (if ever) at an inflated fee to what your domain is really worth with little infomation on how it was going to be achieved, it wasn't a sustainable business plan 1) because few are going to pay to sign up 2) end-users are not going to pay inflated fees and 3) competition offer better value (many top brokers only charge 15% upon sucessful sale) and because there was lack of interest in Stud and the project basically failed as soon as it was launched, I'm sure there are many other people who have similar views to me on this.

As for marketplaces commisions, marketplaces are only good if you want to sell to another investor (for the most part), if you want to sell to an end-user, stick your own landing page on there and market the domain out yourself without anyone getting a slice of the pie or (as i spoke about above), if you have a ultra-premium (which Stud was only going to allow on their platform) get a broker, they offer more of a personal service for the same comission marketplaces charge.

I wish you much success but there are a lot better names out there for a domain site than DirectDiary.com, including hand regs.

I think Stud.com is a great name but isn't well suited for a domain site, it's not something I would go with.

This is why we went back to the drawing board. Give people what they want, we knew the no-commission business model needs lots of different industries to work. We are going to have feature listings to bring in revenue. Imagine a place to keep your inquiries/clients and save money at the same time.

Power to the people and domainers' trust is gone because GD is buying out all competition.

Direct Diary about doing direct business for closing deals and connecting and chatting directly with skilled professionals.

I have a completely made-up and likely wrong wild-assed guess about what was really going on with that name. Hypothetically, if you have an industry-category name and you are negotiating with the top player in that industry, then there comes a point at which the buyer can sit back and basically say, "We're the top offer, and there is no other higher value you are going to find." One way to undermine their confidence would be to pretend that you are going to develop the domain name for some use from which it would be difficult to disassociate the reputation of the name, if they were to come back after changing their mind.

I'd like to believe something along those lines, since it is more strategic than just making a lot of noise and walking away.

Wouldn't be surprised if the eventual end user was one of the wealthy racehorse breeding farms.
