Has closed 27 stores and plans to close 2 more before years end.

Closing 20-23 stores this year.

Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug, Catherine’s
The owners of these retailers have announced that 150 under performing stores will close this year.

Talbots and J. Jill
About a month ago, Talbots announced that it will be shuttering all 78 of its
kids and men’s stores. Now the company says it will close another 22 under
performing stores.

Gap Inc.
Closing 85 stores.

Foot Locker
Closing 140 stores.

Wickes
Filed for bankruptcy protection and closing all stores.

Levitts and Bombay
Going out of business, closing all stores.

Zales and Piercing Pagoda
Closing 105 stores.

Disney Store
Filed for bankruptcy protection and closing 98 stores.

Closing 15 stores.

Also Circuit City is closing lots of stores - on the verge of bankruptcy.

It is getting pretty serious, although i do not particularly agree with the UAW begging for bailout money from the government, It is a necessary evil, otherwise Ford And General Motors will have short life of existence left.

Times will get rougher, but we will recover, with how much damage is the question.

That's a lot going out of business and / or having large scalebacks. Just shows how rough the economy is at the moment. Let's hope we don't lose too many more - though I am sure we will.
