are you sure that you were "stupid" ? Or maybe it was about knowledge and/or experience?

Well knowledge and experience are two cures for stupidity, though even those are useless without wit and wisdom.

One thing I just recently learned is that otherwise brilliant people can believe remarkably stupid things. So, it's not always obvious who will be a great parent.
