A classic... burrying people in the ground, up to their necks with only their heads sticking out of the dirt, cutting out their tongues so they couldn't speak or scream, and force feeding their open mouths to fatten them up nice-and-plump... later digging up the still-living, still-squirming human victims from the ground like vegetables being picked from grandmother's backyard garden, killing them and harvesting their bodies for meat. And then, feeding the human flesh to unsuspecting travelers that happen into the motel.

I was thinking to buy a house or 2 in Michigan given the prices and I equired about that in this forum few months ago.....I asked aeound the web and everybody just told me so many bad stories about Michigan that it`s not a surprise you get a house for $100 :

Kids.... me? If I was to change my mind sure, I would ADOPT as many as I could as long as I could give them a good education, a decent life and a family. Unfortunately I`m not in that position now to do so and most women I met would not "want second hand" children.

If you are talking about Detroit, there's more to that State than one small ghetto area in a vast city, which is located in a vast land that spans thousands of square miles. It is a lush state, with beautiful foliage, farmlands, fishing locales, just a great place to visit or live in.

I'd like to try some kangaroo meat, why don't you round up all those extras down there that they are just culling off anyway, and start a Kangaroo Restaurant chain over here.

And as a p.s., I have been in and out of this country since I was knee high to a grasshopper, so don't be staring down your nose at someone all holier than though just because you think you are more worldly, 'cause that ain't likely.

You can find plenty of Kangaroos on the street at night and if you don`t drive slow you can kiss-goodbye your car most of the times.
And its not only them but all sort of wildlife, plenty here.

there are too many rich people in the world who are just concerned with making money. they neglect the poor, they ignore their spouses/children, they are usually alcoholics, gamblers, and white collar criminals....

look at all the wall street execs, the get billion dollar bonuses, while everyday citizens like you and are thrown into the cold street...alll the financial troubles of the world happened because of the rich...

so please, do you're part and stop making money. in fact, stop being happy all together. happiness is the number one cause of war in this world....too many greedy people thinking of their own happiness and not crying over the misery other people have....

i say we ban all comedy shows from tv, and that anybody caught laughing should be cited $100 per chuckle. they'll have to target children first, because they laugh all the time....and it's not fair to the other kids who don't have anything to laugh about....

and while we're on the topic of children, i suggest anybody that suggest pple should stop having children should have vasectomies.....

i didn't know what true love, selflessness, sacrifice untill i looked into the eyes of my baby for the first time. it's a biological instinct that doesn't kick in until you have a baby...

Don`t worry when there will be no more water but really no more, not even the last drop, all those billions will be worhtless.

Mopney is another of our crazy ways to destroy the planet. It started with a sort of free exchange (one thing for another) then we started to give values to things and we needed a currency. Then greed took place.

By the way vasectomies are not necessary. Contraception exist. Which also prevent the spread of STDs.

And as last resort: abortion is there. Not surprising the amount of abortions is increasing everywhere too.

I could take you around MANY places around the world and show plenty of bad parenting examples.

The problem is that most of the times those parents are the ones that keep making more and more children : 3, 4, 5 or even more.

They breed like rabbits and can`t even provide psicological support, affection and education to them.

They just want babies! Or $ bonuses?

Obviously it doesn't make everyone better people, or we'd all be one big happy planet.

Of course there are bad parents all over the world, but when you start trying to decide who should and who shouldn't be able to have kids, as others here have said, that's a can of worms you don't want to be opening...

Yes you are right about that.

I think that given that fact we are in 2009 and still plenty of people are fighting endless wars in some part of the planet while most of the rest of the world is focussed on greed and corporation business based on consumism, I think we will go ahead towards self-destruction and when it will be to late, we will have to cope with whatever we have done or not done in the past.

I n this thread I mentioned sometimes the fact that some people may not realise the overpopulation problem and how serious has become already because they may not have got out of their small town while I did already visited quite a few spots where you are already stretching a bit for survival.

how many of you get stuck in traffic jams on a daily basis and waste 2 or 3 hours per day just to commute home/work - work/home ? In Rome it`s getting out of control.

In other cities such Buenos Aires is out of control.

Some, such London try to fix it by charging entry fees to the CBD. So here we go, people with more money are advantaged towards the ones who need to save or struggle financially.

I remember there was a chart which showed how wealth is spread accross the world population and if I remember correctly it was something like 3 % of the World population has 90 % of the total wealth.

The topic is too deep to be discussed on here I suppose and as I said I think it has done its course here so I will stop replying on this thread from now on.

While I agree to the population issue. I also want to say that adopting a child and your own child is quite different.

I would prefer my own child with my own gene and which behaves and acts like me which makes me happier then ever.

I have nothing against adopting a child but to be honest I would not be able to love that child as much as I would love my own child

As for population issue. I think the problem will get solved itself. Humans are going crazy nowadays and doing all the stuff that they don't have to do.

I'm sorry but this is a RIDICULOUS thread. As a woman of childbearing age it is an insult for me to hear someone tell me not to have children of my own and to take on someone else's.

Believe me, I would adopt children with no parents because they are innocent and don't deserve to be without a family who cares about them. But I would take them in WITH MY OWN children.

The solution is to educate the poor, period. The solution is to continuously reinforce the use of contraceptives and remind people that if they can't afford children they should limit the number they have.

I love myself and I would love to see a little version of me running around the house. I would love to see a little version of me enjoying the things I can offer and exploring the world in their own individual way.

Just because you don't feel the same way, doesn't mean you should encourage people to live the way you do. If you don't want kids and feel the world will be a better place without little versions of you then that's fine. There are lots of people in this world who aren't into having their own children.

But for the ones that do, let it be our choice.

And p.s. I'm from a country where 10% of the population are expats because we are underpopulated. Way I see it, your advice should be given to countries that have gone too far into the whole 'the more the merrier' policy and not to all people in every country.

A reminder that it is not a choice for the Chinese to have one child - it is a sacrifice they have to make and a duty to their country because the people before them (their grandparents, great grandparents and so on) went about bearing dozens upon dozens of children.

I grew up with 2 brothers and 2 sisters and life without them would be unbearable and lonely. I don't agree that the whole world should have a one-child policy.

Many countries do well on population control. Overpopulated countries should just get with the program.

Nowhere in this thread was to insult anyone, let alone you specifically. I did not even "know" you till today. The fact that you want your OWN is fine, its legit and its understandeable. This does not make it the best choice for humanity unfortunately. Yes you may reply with "why me? what about the others?" <--- agreed. that`s the problem. No one will give up. That`s why I wrote this thread. To understand if there is a solution and am afraid there is not. Not a nice one anyway.

Agreed. But it`s not just about children`s future life conditions.

I`d love a few little versions of myself but I want to break a myth: because a new born baby will only have 50 % of your DNA, the new versions will never be the same. Unless your children have been obtained by cloning yourself.
The reasons behind my choice are multiple. Overpopulation is one of the main 3. I can solve the other 2, but not overpopulation. Hence my choice is probably unchangeable.

But for the ones that do, let it be our choice.

Absolutely. As far as me, you can even make 100 children. I have no authority over anyone`s life except mine and I respect other people`s opinions.

Not only there. My grand-grandmother had 21 children. There was no TV at that time. China and India are going to be probably the first 2 countries to experience the things I worry about such internal revolutions, wars and any kind of problem related to water and food shortage. These issues are already affecting the low classes. The real emergency will start in about 20 to 30 years I think when you`ll start to have one third of population unable to have a "normal' life.

I can understand that. I grew up alone and I did not like it. But friends are for that. Furthermore, now more and more children (and not only children I should add) spend an increasing amount of time using either TV, PC or gaming devices which has changed the need of real life friends or brothers/sisters. Few months ago one school in Queensland had to BAN "any electronic devide" ( so mobile, ipods, iphones, wii, etc.) in order to let students socialise and talk between them which was getting RARE. Once they get out of school no one will stop that anyway.

Agreed. But considering no one has been able to fix wars, diseases, poverty, etc....I doubt someone will even start thinking to do anything about it.
