I`m just pointing the fact we have a problem. Ignoring it does not mean it will go away.

And my position is that I`m NOT keen to add my contribution to this problem by making more children.

For instance, if there was a gradual reduction of pregnancies things could be still brought back under control.

No one said we have to cull anyone. I find culling kangaroos is orrible enough.

In all honesty, considering the audience on this Forum should have a IQ above the average , I find puzzling the fact that this topic is so controversial.

I mean, the numbers are there, I`m not showing anything new.

So why does it bother you?

The population of the earth could be 10 times that it is now, IF the present wasted resources were used properly.

The only thing I have learned from this thread so far is that the world is crowded, people are hungry and homeless and the only way to help these people is to stop having babies. I was going to go with a plate of food and a roof but I guess it is time to get on birth control. Thanks, italiandragon!

Sorry, but we, the humans, are the biggest problem the planet faces, so I always find it selfish and arrogant when we try to control other life-forms and talk about the damage they do. Kangaroos did not destroy the planet. WE did. I think it's important to keep that fact at the forefront of this, or any related conversation.

There's too many people in my neighborhood, and each person seems to have 7 or 8 screaming kids. And they apparently feed them a diet of pure sugar and caffeine....

I'm not sure what to do about global population, if anything, but you are correct that processed sugar has a huge effect on behavior.

Missouri is a lovely place and certainly not a very crowded compared to other areas so you are pretty lucky.

Africa and SE Asia and Central/South America are were there is a problem of overpopulation. Not in Europe , not in North America, where there's an actual decline in population. So your preaching should be directed to those parts of the world. Go make a noise there, because you are NOT going to convince anyone here in Europe or in North America or even Australia to stop making Bambinos. In fact you should be trying the exact opposite.

Ok, great, some do, some don`t, it`s human nature I suppose.

I came out from a bad time and realised I want to do something for the poor people. I need to. My aim is not to do it here on this site but am just gathering ideas by reading what people write everywhere. So far it seems I`m wasting my time unfortunately.

No one really notices that we have already CROSSED the level of where water, energy, food can satisfy the needs of 6.8 Billion people, let alone 9 Billions.

I read somewhere that scientists estimated that anything above 3 billions is not sustainable.

Everyday on the Forex, about USD 3,000,000,000 change hands.

70% of that is pure speculation.

With just one day of commission waiwed from the banks/brokers I think we could feed 100 Million people.

Sometimes its hard to understand what mankind is creating/destroying.

oh I forgot that Energy is not the big problem as solar energy could always be used, despite most Countries including Australia want to move towards nuclear energy.....great more nuclear waste to dump somewhere.

But there is no solution to water and food shortage. That`s just not possible. Like you can` feed 100 people with 1 chicken and 1 bottle of water, period.

So, is this how we are going to end? Or for what it matters your children or your grandchildren?

Hey, wait a minute, now you are dissing on Michigan? What did they ever do to you?!

If you are talking about Detroit, there's more to that State than one small ghetto area in a vast city, which is located in a vast land that spans thousands of square miles. It is a lush state, with beautiful foliage, farmlands, fishing locales, just a great place to visit or live in.

I'd like to try some kangaroo meat, why don't you round up all those extras down there that they are just culling off anyway, and start a Kangaroo Restaurant chain over here.

And as a p.s., I have been in and out of this country since I was knee high to a grasshopper, so don't be staring down your nose at someone all holier than though just because you think you are more worldly, 'cause that ain't likely.

You might get a little more sympathy if you stay away from personal attacks.
Not crazy about kangaroo meat myself, but if I were to compare to something, I would compare it to another meat, not to a processed food.

Michigan, where I grew up, is a nice place outside of Detroit. And since you mention it, there's this:

Detroit's population has dropped to half of its 1950 population. Yet, as you say, it's far from paradise. What happened? Well, I think it's the result of 50 years of top down governance/cronyism from America's "compassionate" party. This is what happens when people expect too much from their government.

Detroit was a much nice place when it had twice as many people.

So far as travel, I have spent well over 20 years of my life living overseas, a good chunk of that in underdeveloped and overpopulated China. That said, I don't measure intelligence by the number of stamps in someone's passport.

Please help poor people...that's great. But don't try to tell people how to make the most personal and essential decisions of their lives because you think you know how to avert catastrophe. Death and catastrophe will always be with us...and the catastrophes are rarely the ones that everybody predicts.

You should try having kids. They're a really good lesson in humility.:santa:
