Stay away from doteasy hosting... and is this ILLEGAL?

I've just been very dissapointed with the quality of service these guys give. Especially after logging into a friends account with a different host and seeing how helpful their live support is when all doteasy has is a live sales chat that's not even on 80% of the time anyway...

Anyway, they advertise all over their site the ability to lock your domain if you pay for it. Well, when trying to transfer my domain to a new host I realised they automatically lock everyones domain anyway!!! Even though I never paid for this and NEVER WANTED IT! This is totally unauthorized. I cannot transfer to my new host and I'm currently experiencing down time because they will not unlock and give me my EPP code! They won't respond to my emails. They wrote a big long one about how I wouldnt be eligible for special deals if I dropped them and I said NO THANKS, now for the second time can you please unlock my domain and give me my epp code! Now guess what, NO RESPONSE! Shouldnt this be illegal?

doteasy are not a registrar, so they will be a reseller of someone. Find out who (google?) and contact them for the EPP code.

Next time go for a more reputable host, if unsure post on a forum such as NP or webhostingtalk and ask for reviews and experiences. Using the forum search will usually turn up many.

Unfortunately you are learning the lesson many will the hard way, never register a domain with your host. Always keep them separate that way if something happens with the hosting them you have complete control over the domain.

email their support they should answer you back, they will before to me, now i have .com transferred to gd and then along with it .info (remember those times they're giving 1 free .info) so they will respond it's your domain not theirs, you own it, and they're just reselling as tucows reseller,

if still no response, initiate the transfer via gd and they will

I never signed up with them. I just inherited the duty of running the website that happened to already be signed up with them. lol

Guys. I have to say that all hosters have a problems. All of us have to understand that.

I dont have any problems with my host... so no, not all hosts are a hassle.

When you look up the name via whois is it your info you see or theirs?

doteasy.com is not for domainers first of all it's just for starters for those who just want a domain with no php/mysql i started my sites with them and when I want more I transferred, they honor registrar transfer.

All hosts certainly don't have this level of problem and all hosts certainly do not like to hide the truth like this one does. This isn't just another hosting issue, anyway.

I visited their website to check them out and noticed the unmetered packages right away. That tells you everything that you could possibly need to know about the company right there. Unmetered hosting doesn't exist because they both have to monitor what you use and they can only have so much bandwidth and server space. If they cut corners in areas like this just to get a client, you can rest assured what their main goal is - to simply make that $.

My advice is never sign up for a domain with a host as well unless they give you a full control panel for your domain and you have the ability to control it. I hate to say it, but unless an upstream domain provider can do anything, you're probably going to be out a domain name. Chalk it up to a lesson learned the hard way, unfortunately.
