Statistics on Browser/Screen Resolutions

Hi All...

Setting up our standard operating procedures for web design and wondering if anyone has a link to statistics on what browsers and at what screen resolutions today's surfers are using?

hmm, the averag template size is 800 x 600, but if you make it that, they wont be able to see all of it, as you only get something ike 760 x 540 on a screen set at 800 x 600. most resolutions today are above 8 x 6, so that would be a good bet for your average layout size. You prolly should go bigger, for now, as some might see it good, but the majority wont. Hope that helped.

the majority of the clients I deal with at my firm are still using 800x600 and so are their clients, it seems that the small to midsize business community has yet to catch up with technology. To be safe we usually will not design a site wider then 770px unless the client requests somthing specific.

800x600 seems to still be the concensus.

In some of our designs we use a little java script to detect the browser resolution and feed select images optimized to their setting. Example is the three banners at the bottom of our http://www.desktopstaff.com home page.

800 x 600 is the standard today. There are still a few people doing 640 x 480, but very few. Internet Explorer is the main browser,.(if it wasn't bundled w/ Windows and people were more tech-literate, it would be a something from mozilla. IE should burn in hades) I do believe that with php you can use custom settings based on screen resolution.
