Starwars.ws <-- yeah I couldn't believe no one had it!

Is that some trade mark illegal thing?

Hi, thanks for the web ww.uspto.gov.........

further question please:
1. is that only limited to US or worldwide

It's only limited to the US and its territories, I believe. It can be enforced
against foreign companies doing business in the US or imports coming in, but
not against activities happening outside.

2. for example, I search a word "ELLE", it show many files....... so why a single word can be TM many times?

If you'll notice, they're registered for different classes and uses. The key word
here is "different".

I think this stuff is fun anyway way you look at it, we are pioneers. I wonder what the pilgrims thought when they first landed on American soil? All the answers are not set in stone and the wrold does not agree, there is no one standard and the web is world wide so it's going to be very interesting to see how the furutre these things develop. I used to hate cypersquatting but now I think if the company is lazy, ignorant, or too silly not to hire an IT team then you snooze you loose. The way I see it is this. While you may own starwars etc.... you do not own starwars.com or starwars.de or starwars.biz. I think each of us could own and TM each name, so I could TM starwars.com, that is mine to use how I choose, you could TM starwars.biz and design whatever you wanted. These respective companies should own the TM on the domain s themselves not just the name. IMHO

Maybe in a perfect world this would work . But then again if you where Lucas Arts or Google im sure you would do the same to protect your interests

Thanks for your input............. but I still do not understand..because I do not think I can register for example "coca cola" for different use, and can still use the name of "coca cola"..... (forgive me if I am asking silly question!!)

In my experience, companies would rather ask you to drop the domain before suing you... this of course saves them a lot of money.
So its quite simple, if they ask you to drop it, you do. Mostly they just leave you alone.

It's not a very good idea to try to sell a TM name to the TM holder....

Any reply yet?
