Hoping I'm not exceeding your request for this subject by too much. Sat in team owner's chair. List below popped out of the fingers, as if his brain were doing it, not mine. Reg'd between 1 and 10 yrs, w/ some evidence on this list that
.com is not the only awesome extension. Yes, a few .com's in this list, yet, we sold a
.net for significant ROI, and .
work is a STATEMENT as well as a domain, true enough?
SECRET FOR DOMAINISTS:
We ask for less, so our buyers tend to repeat.
To all of you selling or seeking to sell domains, we sold nearly none of our many one-word domains in 16+ yrs because, like most, we asked for silly high #'s. Once we got reasonable, wow. (Bonus domains are also great, because it's hard for someone on the edge of buying to resist when hearing "
Oh, and if we close by end of week, we'll include another related one-word domain as a 'signing' bonus," heheheh.
The 2 toughest lessons it took us years to embrace:
a) The harder we work, the luckier we seem to be getting, and, even more, even more,
b) The more we give, the more we seem to get. Sounds preachy, it's just Newton's 3rd law, yes? Just as in life, domainizers seem to get back much of what's sent out.
They both turn out to be, largely, a way of helping to build this industry faster, and for selfish reasons:
The more we get others involved... and the more we involve them once they have a few domains, by giving hosting tips, or how to negotiate or price-shopping, AND how to dig out extra resources at sites like tld-list.com and namecheap and plenty others, the more grease is added to YOUR sales machine. Let's all make money!
PS: Much of the thinking behind these was FROM EITHER THE OWNER'S OR THE ATHLETE'S point of view!!!! "What boxer would not LOVE to be able to say, "
Boxer.work? or "C
hamps.work?" So the lesson there is, "Instead of 'waiting for someone to make me an offer," do you see how much you increase your chances of selling by
finding people & orgs most likely to get as excited by your domain name as you are ? (!!) "Ask more people more times each!"
In the past 16 months or so, have reg'd well over 4,000 one-word domains, all of them either .com or .work
Please do not allow anyone to tell you that every great domain's, been registered. The "undefeatable" domains below, .com's, were registered in these past 16 months or less. Our biggest limitation may be availabllity, yes. After that, the biggest is limitation is the one we set on ourselves. Let your brain fly, because at least
one mllion people get on the internet for the first time.... EVERY WEEK.... and every one of them can be a buyer of YOUR domains. Enjoy the list.
Say them out loud, you'll understand a bit more, heh heh heh heh.
That's another delicious secret for deciding whether or not to buy a domain)
