If i have two domain names "financialadvisors.com" and "financialadvisers.com" and i want to achieve the highest SERP for both spellings then should I create two web sites with duplicate content except for the spelling of advisor - this keyword will be on hundreds of pages so it would be clumsy to put both spellings in every article?

This would involve a lot more work in terms of linking strategy etc., but if you have one site with the consistent English spelling on hundreds of pages, then you would not have a high enough SERP to attract the American traffic?

I guess two sites may make sense, because an American is not likely to click on financialadvisers.com anyway?

Duplicate content is a BIG NO.
In your case, if different spellings means people from different countries, then adapt the content. Hire some of those content rewriters and ask them to rewrite your content adapted.
