i joined here lokoing for a web developer for my business and am very interested in this domain stuff. if anyone has any explanations for someone looking to get involved in this it would be much appreciated!

excellent advice. Put down the credit cards, and spend at least a month reading everything you can before registering domains. Make that an *intense* month of study, not just reading an occasional post. Don't worry, there are always new opportunities in domains, and that first month studying is time well spent. Learn about the tools for domain investing, not just registering a name because you like the sound of it.

I totally agree; this business is a lot more nuanced than you might think.

Extensive reading and researching will be your best friends. The "get rich quick" hype is a myth.

in your beginning months limit yourself 1 domain/day or 1 domain/week depends on your budget, and don't rush blindly till you finished reading almost every section of NamePros.

Buy domain related ebooks and read up all you can.
Many will say just read forum, but, ebooks will be fastest
way to learn about domaining.

Reading thru forum will take many months.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy or register domains for few months.
