I've been away from NP and domaining for several years. I am back here because I've been getting $xxxx email offers from China for some weak by western stds reg fee LLLL.com I picked up ~2007 - geez time flies! (sorry, not going to list the domain names)
A fair number have a "reply to" email that is way different than the "from" - seems to be a strong correlation with no replies from the really odd email addresses.
So I emailed some of these people back and have gotten replies. Most know of dn.com but maybe 1 in 5 know about escrow.com. DN.com is the lowest for escrow but both they and escrow.com seem to have additional fees for deals between US / China. I am assming that even though escrow.com doesn't support RMB/CNY for the deal, the China party can wire funds from a CN bank. I think it's kind of silly that dn.com wants a scan of an id. Looks like ecop wants either 2% or a $50 wire fee when I want to withdraw. SEDO is just too damn high.
I looked at listing some domains on 4.CN but am on the fence. I can respect that asking for some money to list a domain for sale will keep out the less serious but it's probably enough to keep me from listing. It also sounds like the name in the whois better match the 4.cn acct name or they won't pay. Also a teeny tiny part of me thinks 4chan everytime I see 4.cn.
Given the volume of email inquiries, I think I'll just put up my own parking pages with a short message about price $xxxx and escrow and an email just for selling these. It will be interesting to see how many actually type a url vs just whois lookups.
I'll probably sell a couple this month and then see how it goes.
Would especially appreciate comments about where to sell and where to escrow.
