Hello,
This is my first post here and I hope with the knowledge I gain here, I will stay for long :)
Two days ago I decided that selling domains could be an interesting hobby and a way to earn some cash from time to time. I bought 5 domain names for a bargain - about 8 Euro for all.
I was not actually looking at the value of those websites though.

The domain names are:
ukrooms.online
londonrooms.online
amsterdamrooms.online
freeflights.online
thekinkysexshop.com

I used some web services to estimate their worth but some estimate that e.g. amsterdamrooms.online is worth 399 euro, while others estimate 0.1 euro. It was meant to leave me with an answer but it left me only with more questions.

That is why I am here, I decided that I need to talk with professionals and not some algorithms.
Could you tell me whether any of those is worth anything (I'm guessing .com one) and why my choice was a good/bad one?

Thank you in advance!
Greetings,
Matt

don't rely on appraisal websites.
stick to .com .net .org at beginning.

Welcome to Namepros!

Glad you joined!

They could be. Maybe develop them. You might get some passive income.

Best of luck domaining!

I am thinking about developing freeflights.online to be a flight scanner. Even though there are dozens of those, I think it could, maybe not earn, but pay for itself.
I'd rather get rid of the rest though. I wrote some marketing emails to a few bigger websites with similar core purpose and will see how it goes.

Thanks for those quick answers!

Anything other than .com and .net should require someone with some experience and make a good campaign promoting them, .com is so well stablished that people will potentially find for your domain's .com version than the .online one, webpage "whoishostingthis" has an article about domain names that helped me a lot

Hi @Vanderpool0312 and welcome to NPs!

Not that many of us follow our own advice, I would urge you to have a specific plan of how you plan to sell a name (including the organizations that would want it) before you register too many.

If you are not already doing so, I would urge you to use Namebio database to see what similar names have gone for. You can use the exact/beginning/ending to e.g. search for any names that e.g. end with flights. You can also set it to just the online TLD extension and then sort by date or price to see what has sold in that extension.
https://namebio.com/

Of the specific names you gave, I personally like FreeFlights(.)online although I am not sure where you would get free flights (if you find out let me know lol!). But I can see it being useful for some sort of reward points maybe. SearchFlights(.)online went for $100, which is encouraging.

Best wishes for success in domain investing and welcome to our community!

So I will abstain from buying .online pages and will try to be more specialised with names and do more research.
About free flights - sure, there are no free flights but a gimmick is a gimmick :D

Simple question: if these names are worth much, why were they available ?
What makes you think you can resell them for a profit easily, when nobody picked them up for a few dollars ? Domaining is not that easy...

Yeah, that's true... My mistake but well, sometimes there are good domains on cheap.

Don't put any money on above domain, they all are junk. Before hand registering domain "Ask yourself why it's available". Do some research about potential buyer. Don't invest in a domain which only have single or two buyer. Always invest smartly, know your limit, keep some cash in your hand. ..

Namebio.com good website to check latest domain names sales.

domain investing boils down to 2 main principles

1. Use: Someone has too want exactly what you have

2. Rarity: will determine what you can sell it for. If there are more options to what you have, the less they will want to spend on the name.

That's why I invested only 8 euro at first. Did not want to spend more cause of my lack of knowledge and expertise.

I will for sure do more research and check the potential buyers. It was a mistake to buy those without checking it first. The price was what made me buy those without thinking about real value.

Thank you for your help! It really shows me the what I made wrong and what I can do better.

I've got yet another question. Well, two.

Does it matter to the resaleability whether I hide my personal data from being visible at whois?

What about domains with three words in their names? e.g. cryptocoinmarket. How much more trouble do they cause over a two word domain?

The only thing to consider is why do you want to hide who is? I have name all over the place - auctions site, etc. My last sale came from my Who Is email address - so they didnt bother looking at the lander they just went to who is and contacted me. So, it may not help to have - but if you need to keep it private, then it makes sense.

Yeah, that's why I was asking. I do not need to hide my info and I even think it is a plus cause it gives more credibility. The only thing I want to change is the email associated with domains I own. First I need to get it up and running on my own domain (when I finally decide what name to use).

Got yet another question about selling domains.

As you are aware from my first post, I bought some not stellar .online domains. I am wondering where I could sell those for like 5-10$ each. On Sedo minimum is 90$ which is a lot for this type of domain. Undeveloped is kinda a question mark for me. Could you guys tell me where I could list them for those fairly low prices? Flippa or something different?

Thanks in advance!

I am not sure where they are registered, but if your registrar has a Marketplace that is probably the best option. For example Namecheap and Namesilo do. I have found the Namecheap Marketplace a good place to sell domain names in the $5 to $20 range (I have 19 sales there in less than a year of active listings). There is no minimum, they handle Escrow, and the commission is a reasonable 10%. Good luck with them - even at low prices many won't sell, but some that have sold amazed me - I was sure I would have to let them drop, and $10 is way better than $0!

Of course listing them on here at NPs is another option. I've only tried that (unsuccessfully) a few times, and it seems to me that many don't sell that are listed, but certainly some do.

Registrar is GoDaddy.
I will try GoDaddy marketplace. I hope at least one of domains manages to sell. $5 nearly repays my whole 'investment' so yeah.
Thanks for your quick answer!

Sorry not to dissapoint but that's my opinion : they are all just crap!
i recommend you to start an auction here & get as much as you can
if you have a little more budget then start with liquid domains, if not stick to 2 words .com's & brandables & make sure that you read a lot !! Good luck
