Its right at 15 characters but it has a few hundred exact searches a month and there seems to be quite a few ads when searching in Google.

I did some research, but it is still not clear to me if Solaron is a material, or if it is a brand.

If it is a brand, than you have no value and no ability to recoup the cost you paid because it would violate trademark and potentially cost you many many dollars.

Can somebody clarify the answer to that question?

I did the same thing before I bought it, but I could not find brand information anywhere. I came to the conclusion that it was a style of blanket. I could be wrong. It was an expired domain so it only cost me reg fees.

Sorry to say it's a trademark, a Korean company that specializes in bed blankets. From trademarkia.com:

On Thursday, December 21, 1995, a U.S. federal trademark registration was filed for SOLARON by BOOMIN ENTERPRISE, SEOUL. The USPTO has given the SOLARON trademark serial number of 75035252. The current federal status of this trademark filing is REGISTERED AND RENEWED. The correspondent listed for SOLARON is MIN SOO KIM of BOOMIN ENTERPRISE, 5-11-KA MYUNG-DONG JUNG-KU, SEOUL REPUBLIC OF KOREA (SOUTH KOREA) . The SOLARON trademark is filed in the category of Fabrics . The description provided to the USPTO for SOLARON is bed blankets.

Solaron is a trademark in other industries as well, though those probably wouldn't have hurt your use of it with blankets.

Eh. Oh well. Thanks for the information.

I noticed the other industry trademarks, but they don't apply as strongly if you develop the name in a different industry.

Well, you can still take the chance on development or resale - it's a GREAT name but there's not really any information available on how aggressively the TM holder comes after people in your situation. Most likely, best to delete immediately since it was a hand reg.

I agree. I don't want to chance it.
