Heya guys,

Can anyone give me a hint, where MySpace,Facebook & YouTube being hosted??

I mean enterprise level hosting which sells bandwidth rather than the package.

Renting, I think they own the servers. They have them all over the place, you cannot get them from the people they use. You would have to go through resellers. If you need anything of their level you should contact a data center directly.

i agree with you. theres a few posibility yo rent a server. and ofcourse it can reduce the cost to do

I read about an article long time ago about Enterprise Hosting Services... Where all these big companies host their sites... YouTube,MySpace & XboxLIVE... their package is slightly diff than the ordinary hosting companies.. I overlooked the article then, now i'm desperate for the info...

If i'm not mistaken the hosting company that hosts Myspace,starts with "LIME" something.... it just not coming to my mind now.... ARG!!!

I researched them and found that they do content delivery. A highly fragile industry to be involved in as of packet skips and jumps, which leads me to believe myspace is in One datacenter and not spread out.

i figured this out yesterday when i was looking at the source of the images to determine how myspace uses there load balancing. I determined that myspace has over 771 servers as this is the highest one i found. (http://myspace-771.vo.llnwd.net)

When you goto there however the dns does not prostage meaning that its located locally and not spread out.
Then i did a whois on llwd.net and determined it was registered to limelightnetworks.com

So basically from all this i was able to determine that my space only load balances a the images, music, and videos. This is done by the user number. Ex: userswith the unique id from 1-2 Million may be hosted on http://myspace-001.vo.llnwd.net while 3-4 might be on http://myspace-002.vo.llnwd.net.

Also, the profiles are created with .htaccess with a mode rewrite which includes an asp querie. THe database is hosted locally i think. Not sure, it might be divided over the course of the servers.
